The Israel Culture on Campus – Outline and Challenges
At a time of violence in the Middle East and resulting tensions on campus, Hillel must approach Israel education and programming in an especially deliberate and well-rounded fashion. It is our imperative as an inclusive Jewish community to create safe environments for students of diverse backgrounds and political viewpoints to come together to grapple with the complex situation in Israel. Hillel has a difficult task before us. We want to instill in students a love for the state of Israel. We must support Israel's right to exist. And, at the same time, it is essential that we are here are a resource and home for all Jewish students; those we want to attend Israel advocacy missions, those who are doubting the Jewish state, and those who lack the information and/or confidence to know their viewpoint. I have had the opportunity this year to engage with students on the topic of Israel in a variety of different formats. Below are the programs that I have done in this area.
