AA – Academic Advisor, a faculty or staff member who advises freshmen
on academic issues.
AxeCom – Axe Committee – the spirit committee that gets people
psyched for Big Game
Big Game – The annual Stanford/Berkeley football game – during
the days before Big Game, AxeCom blows a train whistle in the Birdcage
in White Plaza every hour on the hour, for a number of hours equal the
number of that year’s Big Game (this year is the 97th or so).
CA – in FroSoCo, this is what they call the RA’s.
Cardinal – Stanford’s mascot – the color, not the bird.
The Claw – The nickname for the fountain in White Plaza in front
of the Bookstore.
The CoHo – The coffee house in Tresidder; cool place for students
to hang out.
Dolly – One of the four or five cheerleaders that perform with the
marching band.
EV – Escondido Village – graduate residences on the east side
of campus.
Facebook – The photo directory of the entire freshman class.
FloMo – Florence Moore Hall – one of the largest freshmen
dorms on campus.
FroSoCo – Freshman-Sophomore College – a residential college
in Governor’s Corner where some freshmen and sophomores live (surprise),
composed of dorms Adams and Schiff.
FroYo – Frozen yogurt.
Fuzzie – Student in liberal arts-related areas.
HoHo – House Host, students who host Pro Fro’s during Admit
Weekend in April.
HooTow – Hoover Tower –the big tower on campus.
HPAC – Head Peer Academic Counselor, like a PAC, but lives in the
dorm as part of res. life.
Lake Lag – Lake Lagunita, the lake on campus.
LSJUMB – Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band.
MemAud – Memorial Auditorium, located across from Hoover Tower.

MemChu – Memorial church, located inside of the Main Quad.
The Oval – Elliptical area in front of the Quad.
PAC – Peer Academic Counselor, a junior or senior who provides peer
academic advice.
PHE – Peer Health Educator, a student who lives in the dorm and
does health education (duh).
ProFro – Prospective freshman.
RA – Residential Advisor, junior or senior who supervises dorm life.
RCC – Residential Computing Consultant, student who lives in the
dorm and fixes computers.
RF – Resident Fellow, a staff or faculty member who lives in the
dorm and directs res. life.
RoHo – Room Host, hosts Pro Fro’s during Admit Weekend.
The Quad – Square area in front of the Oval, where most classrooms
and departments are located.
The Row – Mayfield Ave, site of some upper class and fraternity
housing.
Techie – Student in science-related areas.
The Tree – The band’s energetic mascot.
