Supervision Supervision is a wonderful component of the JCSC fellowship. It creates a built-in mentorship program that is essential in your first job. This is the one time in the week set aside for you to focus on your personal and professional development. It is important to develop an open and honest relationship with your supervisor, so you that can feel comfortable discussing any issues that may arise. Here are some things to do to prepare for weekly supervision meetings: 1) Print out your "To Do" list and calendar for your supervisor to look over. 2) Jot down your top priorities for the week to review in the supervision meeting. 3) Think of any major questions about technicalities (budget, program planning, etc,), your overall goals, and your personal life that your supervisor can answer. 4) Make sure your supervision happens every week – it can be easy during busy weeks to let it slip by, but don’t let that happen. This is a vital part of your growing experience, and is probably even more necessary to get some perspective during rough times. |
