ABOUT MINDON THINKERS CAFE

one of intial concepts for the name mindon came as both my wife and i was going through our schedule for a fashion and jewelry event in an indiscreet cafe located about twelve miles from nowehere. the name has become snyonmous to the chat forum mindon thinkers cafe(mtc), on paltak since february 2002 and has  generated some interesting feedback. As the creator of the forum, mtc, I have often been asked, "where do you get these topics, are they from a book"? Well, almost all the topics suggested on mtc are from questions i have been personaly asked or thought about wihile driving on our hellish highways. for those of you who are wondering as to what we have discussed so far, take a look at the list below, these were some of the topics which received encouraging response: . what does it mean to be male or female today? . can intelligence come from non-intelligence? . does appearance over-shadow character in an extreme make-over world? . are religous values to be "privatised" or is it an inherent right to be expressed? . is the ethic of self-sufficiency uplifting society or altering it? . the state of the arts and its effect on our lives . is tolerance a positive or negative phenomena or both? . how well do we know other cultures, or would want to know in our society? . how important are personal convictions, and how far would you go the distance to stand   for it? . is blaming others a trait we inherit from birth or learn from others, or both? . is there a conceptual basis for faithfulness, truth and beauty, or has these traits been   replaced by cynicism? . how would you define the message society sends to children and teens, compared to the   message you send in return to society? . is the freedom of speech or expression in america a balanced freedom or has it turned   against itself? these were a sampling of topics that were discussed on paltalk voice chat and i may consider re-introducing some of these topics again if there are sufficient request for them. in our current climate of what many call postmodernism, and indeed a little suspect, to try to defend historical truth. our universities ring with the allegation that it is impossible for us to know for sure what happened in the past. OBJECTIVES history, we are told, is a matter of subjective opinion. the quest for truth should not even be embarked upon, it is fruitless, even impossible excercise. nevertheless, among the cheif objectives of mtc is a search for meaning. i beleive that meaning is essential and that gives purpose in relationships with every human being. the general objective of mtc is to explore the philosophy of rationale and thinking in general. in our very first edition of the forum we asked whether intelligence could come from non-intelligence. some of the specific objectives for this discussion is to explore how one could cultivate a solid make a difference mindset. i beleive that being genuine is the single most important factor when communicating with others. the greek philosopher Plutarch said that, the richest soil, if uncultivated producest the worst weeds. through the daily forum chat interaction in mtc, my aim is to add value to those join in the various discussions. one of the biggest lies of the world is that we are not responsible for our own actions. we are told that it's our mother's fault, our employer's fault, our neighbors's fault, the government's fault, society's fault. through mtc i aspire to fan the flame of inspiration. great ideas, it has been said, come into the world as gently as doves. perhaps as we share our thoughts in mtc, if we listen attentively, we shall hear amid the uproar of empires and nations a faint flutter of wings, the gentle stiring of life and hope. as winston churchil once said, "truth is incontrovertible. panic may resent it, ignorance may deride it; malice may distort it; but there it is..                                                          *for those of you who have not participated in our forum, you may choose to do so by first downloading the free voice chat software called paltalk by clicking on the icon below. after you have dwnloaded it, kindly proceede to install it on your computer by following the set-up instructions. once you have filled up your particulars and your chosen nick, you may proceede to the social issues section and search for the room entitled mindon thinkers cafe. mtc opens its forum room daily  from UTC 12.00 Hrs
