Im alter von 2 Jahren mit meinem ersten Käfer.
As I was two years old with my first VW Beetle.

Mein Sohn (geboren 1998) und ich. Der Käfer auf meinem Arm ist ein Tatoo, den ich jetzt auch als mein Museums-Logo verwende.
My son (born in '98) and I. The VW Beetle in my arm is a tatoo, which I use now as the logo of my Museum.

Geboren bin ich 1961 in Braunschweig, ca. 25 km von Wolfsburg entfernt, und wie sollte es auch anderst sein, arbeitete mein Vater bei VW in Wolfsburg.
Daher hatte ich schon sehr früh meinen ersten Käfer zum spielen.
Seit 1970 wohnen wir in Königslutter.
Als ich 18 wurde war mein erstes Auto ein.....Käfer, und zwar ein VW 1302 S, Sondermodell WELTMEISTER, Bj. 1972. Gekauft hat diesen Wagen mein Vater als Werksangehöriger im Werk Wolfsburg und schenkte ihn mir zu meinem 18. Geburtstag.
Sehr schnell wurde der Käfer von allen meinen Freunden DUDU genannt (und ich auch!), nach dem Käfer aus den gleichnamigen deutschen Filmen, dem Gegenstück zu Walt Disneys HERBIE.
Diesen Käfer fahre ich auch heute noch, aber nur im Sommer.
Als Alltagsfahrzeug fuhren wir eine Zeitlang ebenfalls Käfer. Ich einen 1985 Mexico Käfer "Der Samtrote" und meine Frau einen ebenfalls roten Käfer Bj. 1978.
Der Wagen meiner Frau ist leider verschrottet worden weil er verrostet war, mein Mexico-Käfer habe ich nach England verkauft, wo er als Rechtslenker umgebaut wurde und jetzt als der wohl einzigste samtrote Käfer als Rechtslenker auf der Insel rumfährt.
Seitdem fuhren wir mit Ausnahme meines VW 1302 S viele andere Fahrzeuge von vielen verschiedenen Herstellern, aber keinen wassergekühlten VW!
Seit 1983 fahre ich nicht nur Käfer, sondern ich sammele sie auch als Modell. Darüber erfahrt ihr mehr unter www.kaefermodell-museum.de .
Seit 1984 arbeite ich nun ebenfalls bei VW in Wolfsburg.

I was born in 1961 in the German City of Braunschweig, approximately 25 Km away from Wolfsburg, and, it could not be different than that, my father worked at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.
Therefore I had very early already my first VW Beetle to play with.
We live in the City of Königslutter since 1970.
As I became 18 years old my first automobile did come true, one... VW Beetle; in fact one 1302 S, Special model WORLDCHAMPION, year 1972. My father bought this car in the factory as employee and gave me as a present for my 18th Birthday. Very quickly all my friends started to call the car DUDU (I did it too!). This was done following to the name of a VW Beetle that appeared on German films also called DUDU; it was a kind of parallel to the Walt Disney's HERBIE.
I still drive this VW Beetle today, but only during the summer.
During certain time we drove also VW Beetles for the daily use. Mine was a 1985 Mexico VW Beetle called "The Velvet Red" and my wife drove equally a red 1978 VW Beetle. My wife's car was, unfortunately, made to scrap because it was that much rusty. I sold mine Mexico VW Beetle to England, were it was transformed to a "right-driver" and now it is the sole right-driver velvet red VW Beetle that rides around the Island.
Since then we drove, with exception of my VW 1302 S, many other cars from different brands, but never one water-cooled VW!
Since 1983 I do not only drive a VW Beetle, but I also collect it in the form of models. You can get more information about that by visiting my Private Museum's Page under the address: www.kaefermodell-museum.de .
Well, since 1984 I do equally work at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.

Reinhard got in contact with me via Internet following to a hint given by a Rainer Zerrath, a good friend from Germany. After a short e-mail exchange Reinhard opened a new world full with fantastic material for the "Arte & Fusca" survey that belongs to his private "Das Käfermodel Museum" from the City of Konigslutter, where he lives. In short you will see examples of artworks, normal use objects, drawings, besides material from his photo-collection that he is sending. He has the Guinness book record as the greatest VW Beetle miniatures collector of the world!!!
I thank both, Reinhard and Rainer for this special support.

O Reinhard entrou em contato comigo via Internet, seguindo a dica que o amigo Rainer Zerrath deu. Depois de uma breve troca de e-mails o Reinhard abriu um mundo novo de material para a pesquisa "Arte & Fusca". Este material vem de seu museu particular o "Das Käfermodel Museum", da cidade de Konigslutter, onde ele mora. Em breve vocês poderão ver exemplos de obras de arte, objetos de uso normal, desenhos, além de fotos de sua coleção, que ele está enviando para mim. Ele faz parte do livro Guinness como o maior colecionador de miniaturas de Fusca do mundo!!!
