First Group Ride! | |||||||||||||||
October 9, 2000= Our first group ride: Me and my new friend John met at a local motorcycle shop called Rose City Motorcycles Friday afternoon. I was there to get some 2 stroke oil for my NSR when I heard this guy saying something about getting a $70 helmet for his YSR. I then went over to talk to him and asked him if he was intersted in a group ride and he said yes. We the spent most of all weekend riding! This was our first group ride. We started Friday evening around 5:00PM crusing around the city. Since John's wife was a teacher at Rex Putman High School, we decided to go to their football game later on around 7:00 PM. We soon found out that there was a parade at that school along with at least 30 Harleys and vintage muscle cars there. We decided that we would join the parade and we stole the show! We were doing wheelies all over the place! The Harely guys were really mad at us with our cheap Japanese bikes. Oh well. After the parade we decided to go downtown one more time (~9:00 PM) and cruise around Broadway Avenue.. We suddenly saw at least 25 other full size street bikes (CBRs, YZFs, GSXRs) parked on the sidewalk! It was so cool! My buddy John decided it would be fun to impress the other riders and do a wheelie in front them. Well, what John did not know was that there was a motorcycle cop up the street that was giving a cruising ticket to this Honda Civic when he looked up and saw John. When we past him, he turned on his lights and told us to stop. Luckily the cop did not give John a ticket as he did not believe a 50cc "scooter" could do a wheelie so John just got off with a warning. We then continued riding till around 12:00AM!!!!! What a day! SO FUN!!!Sorry, but no pictures as I forgot to bring my camera. We decided that we had not enough fun on Friday night so we rode again on Saturday!I then remembered to take my camera! We started our ride around 8:00AM and rode to probably 1:00 PM. Riding these little 50cc mini bikes are SO FUN!!! We probably logged over 200 miles and 2.5 gallons of gas this weekend! All trouble free miles. I have lost contact with John Nipper (Upper) ever since he got hit by a bus while crossing the street. If you know where he is, please email me. Thanks. |
