Dear KMLA Family,
Many teachers and a few students have already begun to inquire about the word that I might be leaving our school. I did not want to say anything until the time was upon me. But, so as to avoid any confusion, I would like to announce once and for all that I have tendered a tentative resignation,
effective 2006 on January 14th.
From that time my family should be moving to:
The Cheongshim Middle and High School
Up at Cheong-Pyeong Lake, North Gyeonggi-Do:

As many of you may know, my spirit is very heavy about having to make the choice. My heart is deeply attached to KMLA and to the vision and hope the founder, Mr Choi Myung-Jae, has planted here. I hope and pray that both schools will grow and thrive; and I hope always to be a supportive member of the greater KMLA family and Min-Sa community of friends.
Earlier this year, before I had any clear idea about that new school, several teachers speculated that I must surely be planning to transfer, since The Cheongshim School is being founded by the Unification Church. However, even though I am a long time member of the Unification Movement, the decision to move was not as obvious or as automatic as one might suspect.
I move, not because the conditions are better there, nor because I think the school will be better than KMLA. No. In fact, I also feel that my efforts here are no less significant and meaningful than my efforts would be there. Simply speaking, however--with much prayer on the parts of my wife, our boys, and myself--we feel that our “Calling” is to go there and apply there the best of our experience here; for the sake of multiplying further afield the great hope of this wonderful KMLA experience: towards creating a more expansive gifted global leadership.
The Cheongshim School had asked me to come sooner, but I do feel a deep need to honor my commitment to the KMLA 8th-wave Seniors. The school there understands and respects my need to be here until the 2005 college essays, applications, and college recommendation letters are all completed. For this reason, I have extended my time here, rather than submitting a three month advanced notice of resignation. Therefore, I look forward to many more wonderful experiences with you all this year, and in the months and years to come, God-willing.
For those who appreciate a good poem to catch the mixed-emotions of this moment, I would point you to one of my favorites:
