History of Minnehaha Rebekah Lodge No.77

Minnehaha Rebekah Lodge # 77 was instatuted October 14,1874
and was known as Minnehaha Degree Lodge # 77, Degree of Rebekah.
The requirements for constitution was 10 members--five of each sex,
and one qualified to preside at it's meetings; said Lodge holding
an unreclaimed and valid charter duly granted by the
Grand Lodge of the State of Illinois.

The Constitution provided membership as follows: All members
of the Scarlet Degree, wives of members of the Scarlet Degree and
widows of Odd Fellows who were in good standings
at the time of their decease.
Should a widow of a deceased Odd Fellow, and a member of the Rebekah degree, marry a man, not a member of the Odd Fellows,
she would be automatically dropped from the Rebekahs.

In the beginning a request to become a member of the
Rebekah Degree was called a proposition, not an application.

On May 16, 2003 there were not enough members left to
hold meetings which were being held at a members home,
so they decided to hand in their Charter.

On September 17,2005 the Charter of Minnehaha Rebekah Lodge # 77
was re-instituted and moved to Richmond, Illinois

On January 10, 2008 the Charter was moved to McHenry, Illinois in hopes of gaining awareness & membership in a bigger community.

Rebekah Creed

I am a Rebekah:
I believe in the Fatherhood of God,
the Brotherhood of man,
and the sisterhood of woman.
I believe in the watch-words of our order-
friendship-love and truth.
Friendship- is like the golden chain that
ties our hearts together.
Love- is one of our most precious gifts,
the more you give the more you receive.
Truth- is the standard by which  we value people,
it is the foundation of our society.
I believe that my main concern should be my God,
my family and my friends.
Then I should reach out to my community and the world, for in God's eyes we are all brothers and sisters.
