Minnehaha Rebekah's held a wish list needs drive for
Public Action To Deliver P.A.D.S. of McHenry County
We stood outside the doors of Walmart in Woodstock and
Sears Grand of McHenry handing out Wish lists from
the shelter in hopes of collecting items needed.
Being Veterans day we felt it was a great way to Honor our Veterans as Veterans make up one in every four homeless people in the United States,
thought they are only 11 percent of the general adult population. Homelessness is not just a problem among middle aged and elderly veterans,
younger veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are trickling into shelters and soup kitchens seeking services, treatment or help with finding a job.
The Veterans Affairs Department has identified 1,500 homeless veterans from our
current wars and says 400 of them haveparticipated in its programs specifically tarketing homelessness.
