Q. Why is this so small compared to the SA2B FAQ?
A. A lot of the stuff covered in the SA2B FAQ are the same for SADX. I just don't think its necessary to have that info in here and repeat myself.

Q. What is a Chao?
A. Chao are cute little virtual pet-like creatures found in SA2B, SADX Sonic Advance and Sonic Advance 2. It is your job to take care of them, feed them, train them (raising their stats) and race them ^_^ They come in all sorts of pretty colours and hatch from eggs. They can evolve into cute little angels or devious little devils and even stay completely neutral towards life. They can learn and make friends and they love to eat!

Q. How do I name my Chao?
A. Step onto the Chao Transporter, select "Name".

Q. How Do I get a Hero or Dark Chao?
A. Feed your Chao many Hero/Dark fruits. You can buy them from the Black Market.

Q. How is "Chao" pronounced?
A. It is pronounced "Chow" and the plural (meaning there is more than one) for Chao is Chao.

Q. Which Game is this info for?
A. Sonic Adventure DX.

Q. What's that floaty thing above my Chao?
A. That's the Chao's Emote Ball. It will change depending on how it feels/what it's doing.
Heart = It is happy. If it sits down with a heart above its head that means it is ready to mate.
? = It is thinking about what to do.
! = It has an idea/ it is about to do something.
Swirl = It is unhappy or it is tired.

Q. How do I unlock the different Gardens?
A. -
Station Square:
Go to the hotel and walk into the elevator on the left.

Mystic Ruins: Hop in the mine-cart that's in the cave left of Tails' workshop, it will take you to the garden.

Egg Carrier:
Take the monorail to the main part of the Carrier and go into the room with the switches. spell "E-G-G-M-A-N" and the door will open. Go inside and you will be transported to the garden.

Q. Where's the Black Market?
A. Station Square Chao Garden, it's hard to miss. They sell some of the same items that are sold in SA2B.

Q. How many Chao can I have in one Garden?
A. 8

Q. What stat levels do you suggest for races?
A. I suggest that your Chao has a high Swimming and Running level for any race (level 50 should do)

Q. How do I smake sure my Chao won't die?
A. Don't treat it bad! It is very hard (in my experience) to kill Chao. So don't worry about it.

Q. My Chao turned into an egg!! What happened?
A. It regenerated. If your Chao is at the end of its lifespan and you've treated it well, it will reincarnate by surrounding itself in a pink cacoon and reverting to an egg.

Q. When will my Chao wake up?
A. Chao don't sleep for very long, just let it sleep in peace or it wll get very annoyed.

Q. If I break a Chao egg, will the Chao inside hate me?
A. Nope. The Chao won't hold a grudge.

CHAO EGGS, BREEDING, DEATH AND REBIRTH:
Every Garden comes with an egg. If you have Sonic Advance 1 or 2, you can transfer eggs with the transporter. You can find special eggs in the adventure feild. You can also buy chao eggs from the Black Market, or get chao to breed to get more chao eggs. There are three ways to hatch an egg:

-Pick it up and cuddle it (hold down the B button when you pick up the egg, then push the control stick; or, hold Y while holding the egg, and push the control stick), then set it down

-Pick it up and throw it against a wall

-Leave it alone, it will hatch on its own

There IS a way to make sure an egg doesn't hatch, and that is to leave it floating in the water, of course this will only work if you stay in the garden, as soon as you leave and re-enter the garden the egg will appear in a different (and random) location.

The methods you choose to hatch a chao egg will NOT affect a chao's face, stats or appearence in any way. The face specifically is set in stone as soon as the egg is created.

Chao breeding is quite easy, all you need are two chao who are both in their second evolution or higher and one must be willing to mate. To get your chao fertile enough to mate you can let it happen naturally or you may buy a "Heart Fruit" from the Black Market and feed it to your chao. When your chao is ready to mate (it will sit down on the ground with a heart over it's head and flowers will bloom around it) just place another chao beside it and poof! instant chao egg!

Q. My Chao wont mate, is my game broken?
A. Um...no. They probably just don't like eachother, try again with two different chao and make sure they're BOTH in their second evolution or higher and at least one is ready to mate.

Q. Both Chao are in their second evolution and both had eaten a Heart Fruit, they still won't mate! WHY?
A. Make sure you have at max 7 Chao in that Garden or else they will not be able to mate. The maximum number of Chao you can have in one garden is 8, so if you have 8 Chao and two mate to create a new Chao, this cannot happen because it would exceed the maximum ammount of Chao by 1. So instead, they just cannot mate.

Q. How do I know what gender my Chao is?
A. Chao do not have genders.

Q. How long do chao live?
A. The average Chao lifespan is 4 to 5 years old. (A Chao year is about 3 hours in real-time)Using common sense, a Chao will live longer if you treat it better. At the end of a chao's lifespan it will cacoon and die or cacoon and be reborn. You can tell if it will die if the cacoon is gray, if the cacoon is pink that means it will be reborn and you will be left with its egg to hatch. Don't worry about killing your chao though, it is very difficult to make a chao die. You would have to treat it very badly throughout its entire life (aww, why would you want to do that?) there is no need for that however, you can just grab any chao you don't want and step on the big red button on the platform of the GBA stand in the Gardens, and select "Good-Bye" your chao will go off to a magical forest and live there happily forever (in other words, it will be deleted from your memory card) The only chao which cannot die are The Chaos Chao.

SECRET EGGS

Gold Egg:

Found: In the jewelry shop in Station Square.
- go to the place where you fought Chaos for the first time, outside the City Hall.
- pick up the egg shaped rock.
- carry it over to the jewelry shop, you can see the egg sitting on display in the window.
- go inside and pick up the gold egg, but OH NOES! You've set off the security alarm and the doors lock!
- put the rock on the pedestal the egg was sitting on.
- take the egg to the Station Square Chao garden and it's yours! =D

Silver Egg:

Found: Behind the waterfall at the Mystic Ruins.
- go to the right hand side of the pond where the waterfall is.
- jump on the platform that's sticking out of the wall.
- it will be pushed in like a switch. The little hole the egg was in will be pushed out, dropping the egg in the pond.
- wait for the egg to drift onto shore, then pick it up.
- enter the Mystic Ruins Chao garden and the egg is yours! =D

Onyx Egg:

Found: In a prison cell on the Egg Carrier.
- Activate the switch to open the cell door.
- Walk in and pick up the egg, but will it be that easy?
- yep! Leave that room and go to the room with the switches on the floor. The password is "E-G-G-M-A-N" to enter.
- Go in the door and you will be transported to the Egg Carrier Chao Garden. The egg is now yours! =D

TINY ANIMALS: The cute little animals you can acquire from defeating baddies can be given to Chao. The Chao will absorb the animal's spirit and will recieve stats and will grow animal parts from them. Here's a list of the animals, where they can be easily found, and what parts they give.

Tiny Animal FAQ

Q. Where do I get the (insert animal here) tiny animal?
A. You might want to check out a Walkthrough at http://www.gamefaqs.com they have some really great walkthroughs! and you'll be able to find a list with the locations of animals there too.

Q. Which Tiny Animals do you recommend?
A. Running - Kangaroo
Flying - Swallow
Swimming - Otter
Power - Lion
Blue - Mole

Q. How do I um, remove animal parts?
A. Unfortunately, there aren't any Black animals in SADX to remove animal parts for you. The only way is to cancel out the animal parts with other animals. Look in the list above for which animals give and take which parts. That information might be a bit incorrect, so I suggest studying and observing which animals give and take which parts.

Wanna create a cool lookin Chao? One that resembles your favourite character, or just a really spiffy Chao to impress your friends and make them jealous? Well, here's your chance!

Infinite Animal Cheat:
This Cheat can save you a lot of time! Get your Chao's stats to Level99 in NO time! All you have to do is grab a tiny animal, step into a Garden and find a Chao. Pet the Chao or give it a fruit, something to make it stay still. Grab the animal or drive and stand in front of the Chao. Leave enough space so that you won't hand the animal to the Chao. Drop the animal right in front of the Chao and it wil use the animal butit will drop it again and it will be useable again! You can do this as many times as needed!

Fun games to play when you're bored and have nothing better do do.


HIDE N SEEK

This is a very simple game that you can play if you're bored. To set this game up you will need:

- Access to the Egg Carrier Garden
- A timer of some kind
- 1 Neutral Chao (invisible)
- 2 Hero Chao (invisible)
- 2 Dark Chao (invisible)
- 3 Chaos Chao (invisible)

Once you posess all of those, place all of those Chao in the Egg Carrier Garden. Name each Chao so you will be able to tell them apart. None of the chao should posess any animal parts.Once all of that is done, exit the Garden. Play a level and collect some animals. Go back into the Garden, set your timer for 1 minute or less and the game begins.

Your job is to search for the Chao. The rules are as followed:
- No moving your camera for better views
- No flying
- No standing on the rocket for a better view

The scoring is as followed:
+30 pts (each) for finding the Hero Chao
+30 pts (each) for finding the Dark Chao
+50 pts for finding the Neutral Chao
+100 pts for finding the Chaos Chao
+5pts for every 20 seconds left on your timer (if the time doesn't run out)

As soon as you find a Chao, give it an animal to mark that you've already found it. If you spot it again, you don't get any points.
When you find all 8 Chao, the game ends. If the time runs out, the game ends.

ART CONTEST

A cute little activity that you can do. I noticed Chao tend to draw a lot in SADX, so I came up with this game.
Just get two or more of your Chao who tend to draw a lot, and wait for them to draw. It may take a few tries, but eventually they will all draw pictures.

Scoring depends on what they draw.
Food = 10 pts
Characters = 20pts
Chao = 30 pts
Other things = 50 pts

Write down which Chao draw which things, and at the end of the day (or whenever you want to tally up the scores) tally up the scores.
The Chao with the most points could get a prize. I give fruit or hats to the winning Chao.
