Pooh Bear
Pooh Bear is the family dog. My half sister Heather got her as a birthday gift for her dad. He wasn't that thrilled with her, so Heather and my half brother David ended up taking care of her until they went to college. Their dad was too busy to care for her after that, so nobody could when Heather and David moved to the mainland. Finally my sister Ginger and I begged our parents if we could keep her and finally they said yes. Pooh Bear is a border collie/samoyed mix - kind of an accident. But she is so beautiful and we are all glad she was born. She is a bit anal though. After all, she is a working/herding dog. She likes to herd birds, our cats and even poor Mira. She deserves us, because we are all anal too. Unfortunately her heavy coat is very hot in Hawaii so she is always panting. We get her shaved every few months. Pooh always tries to make us happy and loves to please. (She has an ego, I think! ;))
Mira
Mira is personally my dog. It all started when I was convinced that Pooh Bear wasn't enough - I had to have my own dog that wasn't the family dog. I have always loved dalmatians best-they have always been my favorite breed I guess because of 101 Dalmatians. So when we visited my mom's friend Jill's farm and they had a dalmatian - I had to have it!!! Jill and her family had rescued a bunch of great danes and Wendy the dalmatian ( I rennamed her to Mira after Mira Furlan on Babylon5. I was obsessed) that had no homes and gave them sanctuary at their farm. My mom was thinking about getting a great dane but I had to have the dalmatian!!! I had no idea what I was getting into. Mira is purebred but is deaf. Usually when a dali is born deaf it is immediately euthanized, but Mira was lucky. Her deafness is not her feature that drives me nuts though - she eats ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!!! As soon as the gate is open she runs out across the neighborhood to eat garbage. She even eats my cat's poop! Anything she finds she will eat. If she isn't eating, she's sleeping on her couch (see picture) because Pooh Bear will hardly ever let her off it if we are around. (Like I said, she herds Mira.) I love Mira, and I will always love her. But she is the LAA LAA dog of LAA LAA land.

I have two real dogs named Pooh Bear and Mira. They never were and never will be show dogs. Pooh is a mix and Mira is deaf so they are both spayed. But just because they aren't Champions doesn't mean they are any less special companins. Both are outside dogs.
