New Braunfels, Texas was founded by a German prince in 1845 shortly before annexation as a State of the Union.   There is a wonderful mural on a downtown building depicting arrival and settlement.   There is another mural celebrating Ferdinand Lindheimer, a settler of the period and father of Texas botany.  He also had the first printing press in the area.  After scouting the area for a location for the German settlers coming over from his hometown, Braunfels, Germany, Prince Carl Solms was convinced to settle in the area rather than go North toward San Saba.  There are some great stories and histories about the early settlement.

The house is about 120 to 140 years old and contains in the interior some of the old wattle and dob walls.  The land under the house is identified in the abstract as once belonging to the Protestant minister to the early settlers John Meusebach who founded Fredericksburg, Texas.

I have decorated it with some of the European colors of the period and every effort has been made to maintain the architectural integrity of the original house while incorporating modern comforts.  The immediate and nearby neighborhoods contain many restored old homes.
