Interests,

Loves,

and Displeasures

I think that it is pretty accurate to say that I'm almost as eclectic personality and taste-wise as they come.  I don't know why or how I came to be that way, but for better or for worse, I like it;  and I like the fact that I can enjoy myself almost anywhere.

Interests - I'm fascinated by aviation...especially research and progressions made in avionics (AVIation-electrONICS).  I have interests in various world airline companies like British Airways, Air Jamaica, El Al, US Airways, and Delta...but my aspirations aren't really to ever work for the airlines, but rather in research, development, teaching or system operations.

I also enjoy music (but you can check out the music page for more on that).  I personally play the flute, piccolo, and tenor sax.  Currently, I play for the East Winds Symphonic Band based out of the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA.

Cars & car audio is another interest of mine;  although because of time and $ restrictions I haven't really lived this hobby of mine out to the fullest.  I'm partial to imports although I don't like a lot of the newer model Hondas, Nissans or Toyotas.  Some of my favorites are the Hyundai Tiberon, 92-97 & the 1999 Honda Civics (Si line), Suburu SVX, Mitsubishi 3000, Nissan 300Z, Aston Martins, Mitsubishi Starion/Chysler Conquest, and of course the Ford Probe/Mazda MX-6.  On the domestic side there the F-bodies (Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird), Ford F-series trucks, Jeep Wranglers, Packards, Tuckers, GTOs, and 69-80 Cadillac Convertibles.

Loves - there are many things and people that are very special to me.  I won't list the obvious (such as family, friends, etc.), but the ones you may not know about.

Caribbean/West Indian culture - I'm 1/2 Jamaican so I know a bit (but not enough) about 'the other' African Diaspora in the Americas (even though there is also a European, Indian, and Asian Diaspora there too!).  Tied to this love is an interest in Rastafarianism and Caribbean music.

My sorority - the Delta Gamma Pi Multicultural Sorority.  I became a sister in April of 2001, and it's been absolutely great!  True there's a lot of negative notions about greek life floating out there;  yet everything has it's good points and bad points.  However, for me, pledging a sorority is one of the most fulfilling things I've done.

College football - some of my favorite teams are the West Virginia University Mountaineers, the University of Miami Hurricanes (haha...do you see the complication there?), the University of Florida Gators, the University of Central Florida Golden Knights, Grambling State Tigers, the University of Southern California Trojans, and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

I also love a good beer (like Guinness, Red Stripe, Blue Moon Pale Ale, Miller High Life or Yuengling), window shopping at Best Buy, watching live musicians perform and jam, listening to a good DJ spin, buying 'stuff' from www.Amazon.com , watching Young & the Restless or Bold and the Beautiful, good conversation, and traveling to warmer climates.  All books (good or bad, you always seem to learn something...unlike with TV).  I also enjoy reading and conversing about subcultures or various religions (skinheads/Judaism/Islam/etc...) and the people involved in them.

Dislikes - snow & cold weather, racism, sexism, greasy food, opinionated people who think they're never wrong, men who want to control women, men who treat women like they're children, women who more jealous than friendly, Elvis Presley, proselytizers, the Fighting Irish, the Seminoles, the Nittany Lions,  the {Pittsburgh} Panthers, Snap-On tools, close-minded people, PennDot, National City Bank, Brittany Spears (her music anyways), heroin, Nazis and Nazi-sympathizers (Charles Lindberg, that means you), politicians (well distrust would be more accurate), history books that lie or don't tell the full story, and MTV.

Sometimes, I get the impression that others don't really 'get' me...or what makes me tick.  To be honest, I've never really been one to care what others think about me; but I have been known to care about the well being of others (in other words, I'll do anything to help you, but hardly a thing to just please you).

See, I believe in freedom;  on a personal, societal, professional, and political level.  Let the next human being live their life the way the want (as long as it's not a threat to anyone else) without the fear of criticism or disdain.  I also believe that a government should support such freedoms.  There are two political organizations, that I can sympathize with on various issues (although not all).  The Democratic Socialists of America and the Libertarian Party.

On a final note - to any who may be reading this - enjoy life.  It is much to short to spend it fighting and feuding over small things.  In fact, doing such just shortens your life span more.  So be merry;  laughter is the best medicine.  Plus it shoos all the quarrelsome people away!  Cheers!
