Volcan Paricutin |
After our walk through the National Park we made our way to Angahuan, a small village from where we hired some horses and a guide to take us to the base of Volcan Paricutin, and to a church which was left partially standing after an eruption in 1943 destroyed the village of San Juan. It was a challenging afternoon as the climb from the base of the volcano where we left the horses was fairly tough on the way up although coming back down was fun! Also 2 minutes into our return journey the heavens opened to the biggest thunderstorm which included large hailstones . . . we got VERY wet! |
