October 2004 - Cynthia Olavarria was crowned Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2005, and already became a strong contender for the international title in the lists of those who follow pageantry closely.  She also won the lacal costume competitiona and the Miss Photogeninic award.  First runner up was Miss Coamo, Monica Candelaria, second runner up was Miss Guaynabo, Neysha Perez.  As for her year of reign and participation in the Miss Universe Pageant, please read below.

October 2004 - Cynthia was received and honored by Salinas, the town she represented in the Miss Puerto Rico Pageant.  Here are some images that appeared in the local web press.

October 2004 - Cynthia had her first photo shoot as Miss PR Universe.  The activity took place at the studio of renouned local photographer, Ramon Feliciano.  Here are some images.

April 2005 - Cynthia was a guest at the Miss Dominican Republic Universe Pageant (image left) and also starred in the local TV movie "Cuando El Universo Conspira" aired by the Telemundo network on April 23rd (image from press conference right).

May 4th, 2005 - Cynthia's wardrobe for the Miss Universe Pageant was presented in San Juan.  Here are some images.

April 2005 - Belleza Nacional reported Cynthia traveled to Colombia to tape a Diet Pepsi commercial (image above) and was approached for projects in that South American country and France.

Cynthia had one of the most memorable participations Puerto Rico has had in the Miss Universe Pageant.  Her edition was held in Bangkok Thailand and at the minute of arrival she won a place in Thai people's heart, as well as, in the lists of favorites for the crown.  Her pageant took place in the Impact Arena of Bangkok, on May 30th, 2005.  The winner of the pageant was Miss Canada, Natalie Glebova.  Cynthia finished as First Runner up to Natalie and the Second Runner up was Miss Dominican Republic, Renata Sone.

Cynthia's name was called last in the Top 15.

Top Five: Venezuela (4th Runner Up), Canada (Winner), Dominican Rep. (2nd Runner Up), Puerto RIco (1st Runner Up) and Mexico (3rd Runner Up).
