Reconcile The Resurrection!

'And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain.' Paul the Apostle - I Corinthians 15:17

All you have to do is consult your Bible and match up the four versions of the resurrection. There's hardly any rules, and it shouldn't be too difficult for the true believer.

Instructions:

Just copy the grid below and match up the four gospel accounts of Jesus' resurrection into the boxes provided, by filling in the blank ones, then mail it back to me. To help you out I have filled in the account from Mark with the pertinent 'facts'. The gospel boxes are in the order that they were reported to have been written. As an added incentive you are allowed to consult any theological authority, on this planet, to help you out. Any replies which manage to match all four gospel accounts exactly will be published on this web page. And I will eat my hat. Don't forget - the resurrection is the central pivot on which you base your Christian belief. And finally - no cheating. :-)

Whooo Hooo! Guess who? Well, it wasn't Jesus. Ha ha.

Good luck and enjoy.

Matthew

Luke

John

15:46 Friday evening. Joseph puts the body of Jesus into a sepulchre and rolls a stone across the doorway.
15:47 Friday evening. Mary Magdelene and Mary, mother of Joses, see where the body was laid.
16:01-2 Early Sunday morning at sunrise. Mary Magdelene, Mary mother of James and Salome visit the sepulchre.
16:03-4 They discover that the stone has already been rolled away.
16:05 They enter the sepulchre. Inside is a young man sitting on the right and wearing a white garment.
16:06 The young man tells them that the previously crucified Jesus of Nazareth has risen.
16:07 The young man instructs them to go and tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus is in Galilee, where he can be seen. As prophesied.
16:08 They flee the sepulchre but don't tell anyone what they saw.
16:09 Early Sunday morning. Jesus appears to Mary Magdelene and casts seven devils out of her.
16:10 Mary Magdelene goes and tells the disciples about her meeting with Jesus.
16:11 The disciples do not believe Mary Magdelene's story.
16:12 Jesus appears to two (unnamed) disciples as they were walking.
16:13 The two disciples go to the rest of the disciples. They tell their story, which is not believed.
16:14 Jesus appears to eleven disciples as they are sitting down and eating meat. Jesus convinces the unbelieving nine disciples of his identity.
16:15 Jesus tells the eleven disciples to go and preach the word.
16:16 Jesus tells the eleven that baptised believers will be saved and that everyone else will be damned.
16:17 Jesus tells the eleven that believers will be able to cast out devils and speak in new tongues.
16:18 Jesus tells the eleven that believers will be able to handle serpents, drink poison, and be able to heal the sick by the laying on of hands.
16:19 Jesus finishes his speech, goes up to Heaven and sits on the right hand side of God.
16:20 The eleven disciples go and preach everywhere and perform miracles with the help of the Lord.

(Has anyone noticed the abiguity in Mark 16:08?)
