| EDITOR'S NOTE - This is the log file for the campaign's first session, on Sunday, October 13th. Unfortunately, the first part of this session's log was lost due to numerous errors I experienced with OpenRPG, causing OpenRPG to shut down repeatedly and thus losing the logs from the first half hour or so of play, because I kept having errors every 5 or 10 minutes and don't usually save my log quite that often, so I was simply unable to save any log of the first half hour or so. The Campaign Overview page of my site will explain a little of what I remember that happened in the initial half hour or so of the first session. Also, as a note, this is just a quickly revised version of the first session log, as it is rather time-consuming to skim the html code and delete only select lines... In any case, I will likely further revise this log page over time and make it look a little neater. (570) DM Arkhandus: Aaaaalllrighty then, from where I left off............ ** (559) KaiLyn hand delivers a cream pie to the DM ** (570) DM Arkhandus: Akodo Kaneka sat back down in his chair, just as everyone else was sitting down upon the mats..... (570) DM Arkhandus: "I wish to send you all on a journey to the edge of the Shinomen Mori to investigate the matter of my father's death. I need you to search the area near the forest's edges, as well as a short distance into the forest....although that should wait until you have already investigated the area outside of the Shinomen, of course, given the danger of entering the home of the Naja......" ** (564) Kakita Masato lays his sword my his side as he settles onto the mat. ** (570) DM Arkhandus: (bleh, Naja should be Naga, typo)) ** (561) Daidoji Satoru nods ** ** (560) Nerfereti continues the practise of taking in detail while appearing not too. She sits relaxed on the mat, back straight, face impassive and eyes watchful. ** (566) Bayushi Shujo: "Yes, the Naga have manged to put up strong wards, but my Clan has been able to travel safely through the forests. Relatively speaking, of course." (570) DM Arkhandus: "I want you to speak with the heimin and bushi in that area and seek out any clues as to where the oni may have come from, what kind of forces he may have gathered, and how they defeated my father, the great samurai that he was....." She says softly glancing again at the others.... (570) DM Arkhandus: "You, Kakita Masato and Daidoji Satoru, were chosen from amongst the noble Crane because of the trust I have in your Clan, as they have always been loyal servants and even, in some cases, relatives of the Imperial family" (570) DM Arkhandus: "And you, Bayushi Shujo of the Scorpion, I have chosen as a guide and emmisary for this task as you are all sent into Scorpion territory. I do not yet suspect the Scorpion of being involved in my father's death, so I am giving you a chance to aid in the investigation and prove your loyalty to the Empire before the other Clans...." ** (566) Bayushi Shujo bows in response ** (570) DM Arkhandus: "You, Asako Nerfereti, of the wise and powerful Phoenix, have been chosen for your magical talents to aid in the investigation, for I feel that this group will need the aid of a worker of magic." ** (560) Nerfereti 's smile widens to flash even white teeth. She nods looking pleased. ** (570) DM Arkhandus: "I have met elven sorcerers before, and from those experiences I do not believe your power to be as unholy as many shugenja would claim....." (561) Daidoji Satoru: ((/me whistles innocently)) ** (560) Nerfereti chuckles softly and narrows her eyes slightly.... ** (570) DM Arkhandus: "And I believe that I shall need the knowledge and magical expertise of the Phoenix, with an oni involved in this matter......" (560) Nerfereti: (( Hehehe...I'm not an Elf....)) (570) DM Arkhandus: ((no, but elves are the most commonly good-aligned of sorcerers, and the only real testament against the common Rokugani belief that sorcery comes from dealings with oni.......)) (560) Nerfereti: (( Oh, ok....)) ** (562) Kiran (Emiricol) looks startled and a bit disturbed to learn of the sorcerer ** ** (560) Nerfereti shifts her glance to Kiran appraisingly.... ** (566) Bayushi Shujo: (..) (570) DM Arkhandus: "And then there are you two, Kai Lyn and Kiran, who are not of our blood.... I have called upon you, Kai Lyn, also because these investigators may need further magical assistance than a single magic-wielder may be able to give, and because I believe your talents may be useful in the investigation near the Shinomen." ** (559) KaiLyn studies the speaker waiting for her intro ** ** (562) Kiran (Emiricol) looks embarrassed, and quickly recovers his composure ** ** (559) KaiLyn says "I will do my best." ** ** (560) Nerfereti again flashes her teeth though this time whether it is a smile is uncertain. She replies after a moment. ** (559) KaiLyn says "Although I have no clan ties, I am pleased to help such an honorable person as yourself." ** (570) DM Arkhandus: "And now, I ask of you, will you aid me in learning more about my father's, the Emperor's, mysterious demise?" (570) DM Arkhandus: Akodo Kaneka smiles at the responses he has recieved (562) Kiran (Emiricol): "My ancestors would demand no less of me. I will serve as you ask, so that you may uncover the true fate of your own." (570) DM Arkhandus: ((erm, Em and Arachne, were you gonna say something before I proceed?)) (564) Kakita Masato: "The Kakita family has always supported the Imperial family." ** (560) Nerfereti inclines her head...." Yes, this matter is most perturbing." She trails off into silence pondering. ** (561) Daidoji Satoru: "As has the Daidoji family." (560) Nerfereti: (( That was it, heh...)) (566) Bayushi Shujo: "The Loyalty to the Scorpion is always as it should be" (566) Bayushi Shujo: (of, not to) (570) DM Arkhandus: Akodo raises an eyebrow slightly at the Scorpion's cryptic comment, and smiles slightly again (570) DM Arkhandus: "I am glad. I thank you all for your pledge of aid in this matter. Outside the palace you will find a small entourage of servants with supplies and horses, ready for you. I bid you good luck in your investigation, and hope you can report something helpful soon." (570) DM Arkhandus: Akodo Kaneka then stands, and bows his head slightly. ** (561) Daidoji Satoru likewise bows ** ** (564) Kakita Masato stands and returns the bow. ** ** (561) Daidoji Satoru rises to his feet ** ** (559) KaiLyn rises to her feet and bows in respect ** (562) Kiran (Emiricol): "My lord, I would ask a pardon from you - to protect my companion, a wolf of my homelands. We will travel under your protection, if you wish it." ** (560) Nerfereti gracefully rises and bows in one smooth motion. ** ** (566) Bayushi Shujo bows and replaces his katan in his obi, standing ** ** (562) Kiran (Emiricol) scratches a hidden itch with his tail ** ** (562) Kiran (Emiricol) stands with the others ** (570) DM Arkhandus: "What is it you ask, Kiran?" (570) DM Arkhandus: A servant opens a shoji wall panel near Akodo's end of the room, ready for the son of Emperor Toturi to take his leave, as another servant opens the shoji panel that the party had entered from, so that they may leave when ready (562) Kiran: "I would ask for writ prohibiting the harm of my companion, if you wish it" (570) DM Arkhandus: "Ah, of course. I shall arrange it immediately so that you may depart soon." (562) Kiran: "Not all men of valor and warfare will accept a wolf readily..." ** (562) Kiran bows low, and says "I am honored" ** (570) DM Arkhandus: Akodo Kaneka turns and walks out through the shoji panel opened by his servant. ** (560) Nerfereti examines Kiran closely interested in this strange request. She notes it and smiles reflectively turning to head out the open panel. ** ** (561) Daidoji Satoru pauses to retrieve what looks like a pair of Wakizahi and tuck them into his sash ** ** (560) Nerfereti walks that way and disappears through it. ** (570) DM Arkhandus: The servant follows Akodo and closes the panel behind him ** (564) Kakita Masato collects his sword and leaves the room. ** ** (559) KaiLyn looks about the room ** ** (562) Kiran follows Nerfereti at a safe distance ** ** (561) Daidoji Satoru exits the room also ** (570) DM Arkhandus: ((you may "mingle" or whatever if you wish, just tell me when your characters have exited the palace)) (560) Nerfereti: (( I'm heading out...)) ** (566) Bayushi Shujo follows the rest out (brb, need to reload) ** ** (559) KaiLyn follows out of the castle ** (566) Bayushi Shujo: Disconnecting from server... (566) Bayushi Shujo (exit): 17:15 (570) DM Arkhandus: As you exit the palace, you find a handful of heimin servants, pack animals, and steeds waiting a respectful distance from the palace walls. (577) Bayushi Shujo (enter): 17:16 ** (560) Nerfereti makes her way towards the animals. ** Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (577) Bayushi Shujo... ** (561) Daidoji Satoru selects a mount, adds a Dai-kyu bow and quiver, then glances around the area ** (570) DM Arkhandus: A few minutes later, a servant comes from the palace and hands a small scroll to the monkey-like Vanara, Kiran, whom he stares at for a few moments, then turns and leaves ** (559) KaiLyn says "Would any of you have a problem carrying 2 weasels on one of their mounts?" ** ** (562) Kiran thanks the bureaucrat who delivers Akodo's writ of protection for his wolf companion ** ** (560) Nerfereti pauses before one steed and eyes it with misgivings. ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo likewise mounts his own pony ** (562) Kiran: Appearance: Kiran is 5' tall and 100 pounds. He is covered with tan-colored fur, and has a naturally monkey-like face with a protruding muzzle, furred cheeks, and a wide, lipless mouth. He has ears which are giant compared to a human, yet on the small side for a Vanaran. He is otherwise unremarkable. Kiran wears merely a grey kimono and normal, wooden sandals. He carries a crossbow, however, and a dagger is tucked into the belt of his kimono. (564) Kakita Masato: Masato is a rather handsome and intense looking young man. His black hair is well groomed and manner of dress is practical, yet impeccable. He is dressed in a deep blue linen robe with black pants with a vest that bears the markings of the clan Crane. All this is secondary next to the daisho sashed to his waist. The pair of blades are sheathed in deeply black laquered wood. The handles are made with silver and ivory accents at the pommel and wrapped in ray skin to create a pair of weapons truly worthy of a proud samurai. (570) DM Arkhandus: One of the animal-handler servants bows slightly and replies "Of course not, KaiLyn-san. We are here to serve you and carry you to the Shinomen." The servant's voice quivers slightly as they mention the forest of the Nagas. ** (562) Kiran approaches the horses, sidling away from Nerfereti, and also eyes a horse with some misgivings... ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo is about 5'9 with black, shoulder length hair flwoing down, but pulled back form his face with the strings of a black with red streaks covering the lower portion of his face in the form of a fanged grimace. He's wearing the black and red armor of the Scorpion Clan with a large black mon of a Scorpion on the Front, and a blood red Version on the back with a dripping tail. His Daisho, also in red hang at his side ** ** (559) KaiLyn stands a sure 4'5" tall with raven hair and dark skin color. She has a mask outline around her eyes. ** (560) Nerfereti: Pale golden hair flows long and straight around a lean, coppery face set with large, glittering jet black eyes, a long hawkish nose and a wide, sensual bow shaped mouth. She is dressed in dark, fitted suede breeches, a deep red overtunic cut in a flattering feminine style overtop a dark silkly long sleeved shirt and midcalf shiny black boots. A thin leather belt encircles her waist from which dangles an assortment of small pouches and a gleaming well oiled crossbow. ** (561) Daidoji Satoru is an enormously strong looking human male with long flowing black hair, currently dressed in a dark blue silk robe and a white sash. Hazel eyes examine the others with an intensity noted only among the trained warriors, but lacks the arrogance of a true samurai. ** ** (560) Nerfereti reaches out a hand to stroke the horses neck... ** (560) Nerfereti: (( Err...it is a horses right? =P )) ** (564) Kakita Masato looks to Satoru. "I trust all is well with Lord Daidoji and the armies of the Crane? ** (570) DM Arkhandus: ((yes, a horse for each of you, as well as a few pack mules and servants)) ** (559) KaiLyn nervously climbs on her horse never been on a creature of this bulk ** ** (561) Daidoji Satoru returns the look. "My father is well, as are my brothers." ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo keeps his eyes on the Scorcerers with an appraising look, glancing form one ot te other, moving his own mhorse in a circle to keep it's impatience in check ** ** (560) Nerfereti commands her servants to aid her in mounting the beast. She looks not very happy at the prospect. ** (570) DM Arkhandus: Each horse has a bit, bridle, and so on, but carries no extra gear or supplies. The pack mules are moderately-laden with gear and supplies, but not enough to seriously slow them down. (561) Daidoji Satoru: "I think it best that we leave immediately." (564) Kakita Masato: "It pleases me to hear so. It is said the war with the Crab Clan continues to intensify." (561) Daidoji Satoru: "Perhaps we should talk along the way, the distance is long and the time is short." (577) Bayushi Shujo: "I agree. I imagine that if hte beasts could get past the wall of the Crab, surely there must be more. It is a shame that the Crab has dropped thier guard" (570) DM Arkhandus: One of the servants, seemingly a little higher in station than the rest, given his attire, asks "Excuse me sirs and madams, but are we ready to depart?" ** (560) Nerfereti ignores the look send her way and steps lightly onto a kneeling servants back and slings herself up onto the horse who does not look happy in the least. ** ** (562) Kiran roughly scratches the neck of a large wolf, which comes loping up. He speaks quietly to the wolf, then turns to climb on a rather suddenly skittish horse. Meanwhile, the wolf lopes up ahead about 100 feet then pauses to wait for Kiran. ** ** (564) Kakita Masato settles onto his mount. "Yes. I am ready." ** ** (561) Daidoji Satoru nods to the servant then mounts his horse, guiding it with the deftness of a trained rider. ** ** (562) Kiran nods ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo mutters to his horse, trying ot keep it from getting skittish around the wolf ** (560) Nerfereti: " I am now." She says grasping the reins with one hand. She nods to her servants to ready the mules. (570) DM Arkhandus: A servant yelps at seeing the wolf, but then fetches a small cart and attaches it to the rear of Kiran's horse, for the wolf to ride on (562) Kiran: As the horse calms while the wolf moves away, Kiran successfully, if clumsily, mounts the thing (561) Daidoji Satoru: "Let us proceed." (562) Kiran: "Excellent thinking. As we go through settlements, it will be good for the wolf to be seen as being with us." ** (561) Daidoji Satoru turns his horse in the proper direction and nudges it into a walk ** ** (559) KaiLyn sits very uncomfortably in the saddle "Sirs I would prefer to ride along with one of you in my natural form THis is making me ill and I will probably fall off." ** (570) DM Arkhandus: Servants begin to pile into a small horse-drawn cart as the group prepares to leave ** (560) Nerfereti pulls on the bridle trying to move her mount nearer the others. ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo chuckles and nods, moving his horse towards KaiLyn "very well, you may ride with myself" ** ** (559) KaiLyn climbs up in back puts her friend down then shifts also to weasel form. ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo motions for a servant to bring a bag ** (561) Daidoji Satoru: ((already leaving)) ** (562) Kiran smiles as KaiLyn shifts ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo nudges the horse off in te direction of his homelands ** (570) DM Arkhandus: The man who appears to be the "head servant," wearing an almost quality-looking kimono, states "If you are ready to depart, lords and ladies, we have been instructed to head for the edge of the Shinomen forest as our first destination." (570) DM Arkhandus: The servant smiles and then mounts his small horse, and then dutifully follows the party along with the rest of the servants. (560) Nerfereti: " Move you bloody beast or I'll..." Stops in mid curse as the horse snorts and begins to move in the general direction. She sighs and settles back shading her face with her free hand. ** (562) Kiran nods, then shortly manages to get his mount going in the same direction as Shujo's ** (561) Daidoji Satoru moves his horse to the front of the caravan and leads the way ** ** (577) Bayushi Shujo mutters to himself "If my brethren could see me now...Surely my ancestors have a good laugh at this.." |
