 Prologue

On a measureless field filled with thick with foliage, a silhouetted figure stands solitude and still. Not a single word comes upon her mouth but it was sketched with a perfect slight smile. Her azure hair flowed ceaselessly on the whispering chilly breeze. She tightly embraced herself for no one else can. Loneliness grasps her closely in his hand.

Her heart is like the deepest abyss, so mysterious and full of secrets. She may not express anything, but she comprehends more things than the cradle of humanity. She has encountered eons accompanied by tears, suffering and slings and arrows but she is contented she survived it well.

Nothing can ever beat her great seat of passion, blessed spirit and infinite faith and dreams. Nature and time constructed her somewhat flawlessly. Nevertheless in her heart somewhat thirst for something she consider significant.

Affectionate hand without warning reached over her shaped shoulders.  She turned back, beholding a princely and gracious childlike gentleman looking and beaming straightly to her. Like her, he is also lonesome for innumerable eras, desperately looking who will complete his yearning but unrevealed desire. He maybe a prince full of power and wealth, but it brings not anything to fulfill it.

He leaned bashfully nearer to her mildly whispered to her ear. “It seems you are alone, Botan. Can I disturb you and stay here for a while…”

“Sure Koenma-sama,” her dawn-tinted eyes twinkled like the glistening slivery celestial bodies. “No problem…”

Interlude then follows, nobody utters a word. Everything was then hushed, not a creature squeaked, not a bird coos. Only the melody of the wind was heard. Everything nature created respected their blazing but kept emotions.

Few moments after, Koenma harvest all his courage and decided to speak up. “Uh, Botan-chan…” he starts clearing up his throat.

“Yes?”

“It’s kind of cold this night, right?” he remarked.

Botan grinned, squeezing her forearms firmer to her bosoms. “Yeah. You can say that again…”

“…And can’t you notice how the stars sparkle like diamonds…” he pointed out his index finger to the infinite skies filled with countless crystals.

“Yes,” Botan nodded her affirmative answer. “This summer night is really lovely and imaginative, don’t you think so?”

Koenma beamed and disregarded his anxiety in saying how he really feels. “Botan-chan, you might not understand this now but I…”

“Understand what?”

“That I…I love you!” Koenma go straight to his point, with burning cheeks. “I love you…Botan-chan!”

“Why?” Botan gasped as well as blushed hearing Koenma’s confession of his love. Her face turned down, narrowing her eyes looking downhearted. Tears stream down her rosy cheeks. “Why?”

“What do you mean?” Koenma questioned in a disappointed manner. “I promise to love you until I give my last breath. I will be true to you…please accept my precious and inner love. I won’t break your heart, I swear…I really fell in love with you…”

“Don’t you remember, Master Koenma,” Botan cried harshly. “That it is forbidden for both of us…a Reikai Ferry Girl and a Prince of Reikai…to have an private concern…” Botan clutched her hand and a long wooden oar without warning appeared. “I am sorry…I cannot return your love…”

She in haste sits down on its middle but droplets of tears is still noticeable. She glided up in the dusky clouds, towering and leaving the whole grass field and broken-hearted, Koenma, who is watching her dreamily and with passion and attention.

“Whatever happens,” Koenma ponders melancholy, looking directly to the gloomy clouds that is hiding Botan beneath. “Whoever try to separate us, my feelings for you will never change from this day…I swear…I will love you until the end of time…Botan-chan…”

The wind blew her tears away, somewhat removing Botan’s distress and sadness. She whispers to herself. “I love you too, Koenma-sama, I can’t deny it…but we may live in the same world, we are never the same. Forgive me…this is our dreadful destiny…”
