Still not convinced?!
Well, then, this is the new section for you!!! You *still* don't like Koenma and Botan? Well, here are some more reasons why Koenma&Botan is a really great pair, all given by other fans!!! ^_^
Currently we only have Allisana's (the webmistress of In A Nutshell) reasons, and we assure, her reasons are pretty damn convincing.

Koenma and Botan - Reikai Couple
Koenma and Botan. I've never really thought about why I like that coupling before. I guess I've just always felt they were such an obvious pair that reasons needn't be given. I suppose now, however, I'm gonna try and explain some of the things I find so appealing about them.
1) They've got chemistry
I don't know why, but I LOVE it when a guy and a girl bicker and fight - but in a teasing manner, not a serious one. It's always fun to watch them and know that they know each other well enough to insult each other, lol! To me, any kind of contact like that shows a hidden chemistry that both are either hiding or not willing to admit just yet. Koenma and Botan have had their differences (I remember a cute pic where Botan is threateningly holding Koenma by the collar) but they've also managed to overcome that enough to work together.
2) They look good together
I've seen several YYH pics depicting Koenma and Botan together, and I have to say, I think they suit each other. Koenma is adorable, whether in baby form or teenaged form (though the teenaged form is a LOT more drool-worthy) and Botan is a very cute and bubbly ferry girl. I know this is a superficial reason, but hey, it's a plus in my eyes. ^_^
3) They make sense together
Koenma and Botan are of the same world - Reikai - so it kind of makes sense that a member of Reikai would develop a relationship with another member of Reikai. Besides that, they also work together, making for a lot of interaction between the two. Through the years, I'm pretty sure they would've gotten to know each other a *little* bit better than just as a godling and a ferry girl.
4) They differ from each other
Koenma and Botan are different enough from each other to be interesting (and funny) with Koenma being a stubborn junior godling of Reikai and Botan being a bubbly Ferry Girl of Death. Their difference in positions also makes for a lot of good fics that try to play out this "conflict". This concept of forbidden love used in a lot of KoBo stories draws me to them because of all the heart ache and masked feelings involved. (Guess I must be an angst fan, ne?)
5) They have no canon pasts
Their mysterious pasts leaves much to the imagination, and this freedom allows for a lot of great fanfics about it. Besides that, the concept of them - the prince and the peasant, the godling and the ferry girl, the workaholic and the easy-going - it's just too romantic to resist.
Those are some of my reasons. ^^ I can't really articulate much else about why I *like* Koenma and Botan - I just do, and that's enough reason for me to stay in the fandom. ^_^

2) Proof from the anime: In the episode where Botan was cornered by the people infected with the Makai insects she called
Koenma instead of the others and Koenma clearly said that he couldn't afford to lose her. (("Get out of there Botan I can't afford to lose you, you know.")) Though it is possible that he meant as a ferry girl but from his tone of voice I doubt it.
3) Botan could get him away from work and Koenma could get her could get her to become serious when the time calls for
it.
So over all.........
Botan and Koenma make a great couple.
