Bilberry has been with us now since December 2006. His previous family were moving away, and couldn’t take him with them. He is such a friendly bunny, who loves having his lop sided ears tickled. Bilberry had mites when he came to us, and had some of his fur shaved off at the vets. So far, this has failed to grow back, although I remain hopeful… Bilberry also had a weepy eye, a sign that there may be something going on with his back teeth. We had his tear ducts flushed, which the vet said were filled with puss. His eyes now seem to be a lot better. Bilberry is paired up with Ivy, and this companionship seems to have helped his mites, as mites can be caused through stress. What better way to relive stress than have a cuddly bunny friend! Bilberry is now in very good health, although we do regulary check his teeth for over growing. He loves sunbathing and gets very relaxed and chilled out on a sunny day.
Six months later and his fur has grown back beautifully. This could be the natural result of time (although it took an exceptionally long time), it could be having companionship and her grooming or it could be due to the tea-tree oil I applied to his skin regularly. We will never know, but he looks great!
