Hours at Work: 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
First thing this morning, we split into two groups. Amy and Lindsay
worked on finishing up the pot box... it turned out quite nicely... I took a
few pictures of them working because what they were doing was much more
exciting looking... We'll need pictures and stuff for our presentation at
the end of the program. This first picture is what the entire base of
the potbox looked like before wiring it up.
In this next picture you can better see the inside surface
shown in the above picture. the large round black devices are 10-turn
potentiometers (or variable resistors). The remainder of black and red
devices in the center of the surface are used for voltage input and voltage
output (input red and output black). There is a red and a black
voltage connection for each of the potentiometers.
In the third picture, you can see the outside surface that
belongs to the setup seen in the last picture. On the opposing surface
you can see the connections for a ground source (on the far left) and for 4
switches.
Finally, this is a picture of Amy soldering the wire
connections in place. That girl can solder!
Unfortunately, I got occupied with what I was doing and
didn't take a picture of the completed potbox (well, at least as
complete as it can be up until now). So, Maria and I spent most of
today working with 4 new oscilloscopes that the lab just got in.
Suvarcha asked us to make sure they were working right with the GPIB devices
and to write a program that would control them. There's not much else
I can say about that task... other than we got it to work by 5:00 pm today.
As of now, we don't know quite what we'll be up to in the
lab now. Since we've completed all the immediate tasks we knew of.
Oh, but not to fret... I'm sure there will be work to do. |
