Hours at Work: 9:45 am - 6:15 pm
Today seemed like the longest, most tedious day.
At the start of the day, Jean-Marie sat down with all of us to lay out a
plan for next week. She's leaving tomorrow morning early and won't be
back until (at the earliest) the end of next week. So by the time she
was done going over all of that, it was 11:30ish. We had to finish the
cables we started yesterday. We had almost finished yesterday when we
left the lab for the day, but we hadn't attached the alligator clips because
we didn't have any in the lab and needed to get some from the physics shop.
Also, we worked on figuring out the Keithley instrumentation and making
sure it was going to accomplish the tasks we wanted it to accomplish.
This involved creating a small passive circuit design to test it with.
These two tasks didn't sound like that much, but that was the bulk of
what we were working on between 11:30 and 4:30 pm. I also looked into
figuring out LabVIEW and Matlab (specifically the Data Aquisition and
Instrument Control toolboxes).
Then at about 5 pm Pamela informed us that we needed to all sit down and
go over the circuit schematic before we left. So for a little over an
hour, we all were sitting around going through Jean-Marie's chip design, pin
by pin, and figuring out how we were going to have it connected up in order
to do our tests later on.
After work, I got my car from lot 5 and ended up driving around the area
a bit and walking around some mall (the mall was very odd... none of the
stores were ones I would ever want to go in). I also found a Wendy's!
:) That made my day. Wendy's is probably my favorite fast-food
joint, and there aren't any there in that big strip of fast-food places
along Rt1 where UMD is. Plus, the food at UMD is less than desirable
so it was good to indulge in a nice hamburger and an awesome order of fries!
After that I parked my car in a small lot right near my apt... its
normally a metered lot, but on the weekends, you don't get ticketed... so
now, I don't have to walk ALL the way across campus just to get to my car.
