During the 2007 Learning Seminar Jim Wilsford gave an evening class about making canes for our wounded service personnel.  He explained how this idea started with the EOWCA (Eastern Oklahoma Wood Carving Association) and now other states are making canes and sending them to Veteran's hospitals.  We were so impressed with this program that the MWCA executive board voted approval to sponsor an "Injured military service personnel cane project"

We hope to have MWCA clubs participate by hosting cane making seminars in their area.  These are not just decorative canes, but are intended to assist our wounded military personnel, so make them sturdy.

MWCA requests that our members  work through us on this project.  Volunteers will be personalizing the canes for the receipient by having his/her service emblem, along with other information, that the veteran/requester will be furnishing us.  We will make arrangements with the requester for delivery of the finished canes.  If desired, you will be supplied with a photo of the finished cane after supplying an email addres to the project leader.  You are also invited to make the presentation to the recipient if you are able to do so.

Please send your carvings and/or information request to:
