Henry.D.Thoreau was born in Concord Massachusetts in 1817.Attending Harvard college he studied Latin, Greek, French,German & Spanish.He also took courses in mathematics, history and mental,natural and intellectual philosophy.After graduating he returned to Concord and took up the profession of a teacher.Thoreau had already thought of himself as a writer and began keeping journels in 1837.Thoreau built himself a small house on the shores of Waldon Pond in which he lived from 1845 - 1847. After leaving his house he stayed with the Emerson family .In 1848 he returned to his parents home where he stayed for the rest of his life.During 1848 he began the routine of morning & afternoon study and writng which included afternoon walks, thats where the foundation upon which he may be said to have built his creative life.He continued traveling and delivering his lectures about his experiences until his death of tuberculosis at the age of 44 in 1862
