British TV is in a sorry state these days. When it's not bloody soap operas, it's wall-to-wall reality/celebrity crap. It really is the cheapest, worst form of entertainment. Big Brother, the Salon, Pop Idol, How Clean is your House? and that crap, and even worse I'm a minor celebrity watch me make a tit of myself. I shit you not, there was one on the other day called Real Life Celebrity Florists.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Like King Arthur's prophesised return in Britain's hour of greatest need,
Doctor Who, it was announced today, is returning as a BBC TV series!

This is a great opportunity for writer Russell T. Davies to re-establish it as a continuing series, but in the meantime there will be TWO YEARS of speculation in the press about actors and storylines etc until the series finally surfaces in 2005.
