The Moon

I can see a landmark between myself and the stars

It is who I was, what I am, and who I will be

It sits in my mind constantly, as my memory, and my conscience,
as a reminder…

This side is who I was, the most visible part, that part of me which illuminates my past.  The past can be seen so clearly?  It is right there but it is so far away.

The line down the center, where both light and dark come together, it is who I am now.  It is where the past and the future meet.  It can be constantly visible and invisible at the same time.  It is both opaque and transparent.

The last half; that piece that is unseen and yet to be discovered: it is my future, shiny and glamorous as well as dull and unwanted.  It is loved and hated, longed for and dreaded.

Only half the moon sits in my sights tonight, reflecting the sun’s vision and its light.  It conjures this landmark in my mind.  It helps me to reflect upon myself.

What I have been, who I am, and what I will be.
