As we walk through our lives today
We are wading through rivers of tears
And torrents of sadness
We all heard our herald’s plea
The message still grips our hearts
And we all instantly know our world will never be the same
Between tears we wonder if there was anything we could have done
We all ask ourselves, “Why?”
And we all beg to try to take back yesterday
In order to try to save our sister
But we know we can’t.
That is why we cry
Because together we have lost
A piece of our family is gone
So we cry our tears of sorrow
In the hope that our pain would go away
But we must take back today, so that tomorrow we don’t wish that we had.
Let us remember our hurt, our tears, and our crying
But let us also remember our sisters and brothers
With whom we share our world today
And let us know their tears and pain
So that we may share tomorrow as a family.
