Welcome...
There's no doubt about it, Disney as a company is changing as well as it's parks. I hired on at the Magic Kingdom in Florida when Tomorrowland still had it's sleek and sterile environment, beckoning travelers to go on a mission to Mars or take a ride on a Starjet. Mr. Toad still had his wild ride and Captain Nemo was on hand to sail visitors 20,000 leagues below the lagoon. Frontierland could only boast of one mountain and Adventureland was free of flying carpets. Change took place while I worked there and even today change is more evident. At times, I look at updated pictures and don't recognize much anymore. Change is not a bad thing. It's a healthy thing. The problem is, the past can be easily forgotten as well as the lessons that go with it. Since I began this webpage, I had the intention of answering one of the most common questions I got from guests that being "what is it like to work in Custodial at Disney?" For some of you this website will be like a backstage tour or rather a behind the scenes view of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, while for some others, this may be a walk down memory lane.
It's a lot of fun to look back and it's good for a couple of laughs if one had a good time and I know I did in Custodial. Despite all the ups and downs, I don't regret having chosen to work there and if I had to do it again, I would (as long as I could take along those past lessons with me and do things even better). I worked a short, but extremely busy five years (90-95) at DisneyWorld and this will be the time period I will cover. There are no rumor updates. There are no vacation tips to tell you how to visit the parks and there are no trip reports to tell you how long I stood in line at Space Mountain. This is the "meat and potatoes" of my five year stay at the Vacation Kingdom. So, sit back and enjoy a little bit of history. Thanks for visiting!
