The Sixth Grade Language Class
The Sixth Grade Language Class is composed of two parts: Grammar and Writing.

The Grammar portion of the class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Homework given is due the next time (M, W, F)this class meets.  Homwork assignments are given in the form of worksheets or textbook exercises.  Topics include the parts of speech and sentence writing.

The writing portion of this class meets on Tuesday and Thursday.  The students work on writing skills and strategies introduced in earlier grades, building towards mastery.  The process of formula writing is used throughout Bethany's classes, and a student portfolio is kept of the student's progress.

Longer essays are divided into stages: brainstorming by using an "eyeball," working on the rough draft, and creating a final copy.  The process of writing an essay or paper may take several periods, but there is always work to do.  When the final draft is due, it is to be written (i.e. cursive) in blue or black ink, or typed on a computer word processor using a basic 12 or 14 sized font.
