The Henry J. Wellard Award is presented to...
ANDY SERKIS!
For kicking butt as Gollum, and because he doesn't get the respect he darn well deserves.
Here's to you, Andy.  You deserve it, man.

According to the IMDB, Andy was ruled ineligible for an Oscar because his character was digital.  Did they forget the fact that he acted out all of Gollum's scenes, did them again in the mocap studio, and then did the voice-overs?  So really, he gave three performances to make just one character.  And this makes him ineligible because....?

Right, because the Academy is full of wankers.

For anyone who's seen
The Two Towers, you're probably wondering what these people are smoking.  How many people could have made a digitally-produced character so palpable.  Usually digital characters are so obviously CG, as in the case of Jar-Jar Binks (uggggh) or Dobby (sorry, was a little disappointed with him).  Sure those "pixel-pushing pin-dicks at Weta Digital" as Gollum called them in his acceptance speech for the MTV Movie Award, drew him.  But Andy brought Gollum to life like no one else ever could hope to do.

So Andy Serkis, you are hereby presented with the Wellie for your dedication to making Gollum the slimiest villain that we love to hate.  If the "professionals" (and I use that term loosely) think that you're not good enough to join their little club, you can join ours!  Hurrah!
