TERYL ROTHERY, a.k.a. DR. JANET FRAISER! Because she was just too young to die, dammit! |
Why is it that my favorite ones always have to die? There are few bad things you will ever hear me say about Stargate SG-1, and this is one of them. The death of Janet was, in my totally unbiased opinion, completely unnecessary secondary-character slaughter. This is injustice on the level of Archie and Marcus. Why, God, why? Because, let's face it, Janet was one cool chick. She was an amazingly talented and brilliant doctor, a good mother to Cassie (and, stupid writers, did we think about her when you killed Janet? Cassie's already lost one set of parents, and now you've done away with the second! Bitches!), and, most of all, a friend to everyone at the SGC. Teryl Rothery played Janet Fraiser with brilliance. She kicked ass when she had to, and stood up to two of the bitchiest Goa'ulds out there (Hathor and Niirti). And, might I add, is quite the momma hawk--perfectly nice until you mess with one of her chicks--then she'll rip your friggin' eyeballs out. I literally jumped out of my seat cheering when she held Niirti at gunpoint and on no uncertain terms told her to fix Cassie or have the wall trimmed with her putting-Jonas-in-a-gene-splicer brains. You go, girl. So, Janet and Teryl, this is a tribute to you. You'd better have a damn good reason for leaving the show. However, while your character was still alive, you were the coolest doc in Cheyenne Mountain. We'll miss you. Back to Home |
