My discussion here of the skyhook paradigm may well evoke the memory of Toffler's notion of so-called "future shock". Still, I would argue that, whether it be skyhook, or some other sort techology, we must deal with the consequence of continued research and advances in robotics. The prospect of a skyhook with robotic capabilities introduces possibilities for short-hop robotic air-freight, with its requirement for reserved airways and changes to the air-traffic control system. Deal with it. It's coming. As a futurist, I may be assuming the prophetic mantle. If that be so, then I must "make the vision clear to all who read it, so they can run with it". I may here be offering more than my reader is asking for, but it's been said somewhere also, that a true mark of maturity is displayed in producing more than you consume. back home |
