Summary: Is Michael ever gonna thank Maria for everything she did for him?
Notes: I'd like to dedicate this one to everyone that gave me feedback for my first fic "Forever yours". You gave me confidence to write this one. Thanks to all of you
"I've already told you I didn't do anything!" Michael let out in an exasperated tone. He glanced at the clock in front of him and sighed. It has been three hours with no break of interrogation. The two police officers looked at each others.
"Some people saw something..."
"Listen, you've search all around and you didn't find anything. No blood anywhere, no dead body."
"Well, some murderers are really good at..."
"You think I'm a murderer!" Michael interrupted him. He couldn't believe what was happening to him.
"I don't think anything, I just make some hypothesis."
"You make them all wrong, officer, 'cause I didn't kill anybody."
"I didn't say so, but something happened and I want to know what. I need your collaboration. Now, tell me all again from the beginning." Michael sighed.
4 hours before...
Michael walked in the street. He was in a bad mood. He hit the tire of a car with his feet and the tire exploded. The car alarm began to ring.
"Great" he muttered to himself.
He was walking on a viaduct when a vision hit him. He got all dizzy and tried to hold himself but he swung and felt down the viaduct.
Under the viaduct, Michael was lying on the ground. He opened his eyes slowly. He tried to move, but it was too painful. "Hope it will work..." he thought, running his hand down his hurt body. "It worked!" He smile to himself proudly. He got up carefully, not quite sure. All of a sudden, ambulances and police cars came from everywhere....
At the police station.
Michael picked up the phone and began to dial Max's number. "Oh shit! If I call Max, Isabel will know and she will freak out and Max will make me one of is little speech about how he always clean up my mess... No, not a good idea." he thought. Then he smiled and dialed another number.
"Maria?" he asked when a sleepy voice answered. "Maria, it's me. I'm in a little trouble... I'm at the police station... No, I didn't do anything... I'll tell you later... A bail? Probably... Do you?... Okay, I'll wait... Hum Maria?... Nothing." He hung up. He'll have to thank her, but not now. Maybe later.
Maria hung up the phone. She was confused. Was it just a dream? Well it could be, she has dreamed of Michael a lot since the past months... But this time, she wasn't sure if it was a dream or a nightmare. What was that all about? Police, bail, Michael... Okay, two out of three were nightmares. But the third one...
No, it was not a dream, she suddenly realised it completely. Michael needed her. Not in the way she wanted him to, but nevertheless he needed her to be there for him. And, as always, she would be there for him.
When Maria showed up at the police station, she was surprised to be welcomed by Michael hugging her. "I thought you'd never come..."
He then backed up and ran his hand through his hair awkwardly. "What are you doing man, you may be tired and exasperate and exhausted... but... but it's not time to become sentimental! God, how can she look so damn good at this hour of the night?"
"So, hum, does everything's okay, I mean, are you free to go?" Maria asked, pulling him out of his thoughts.
"Hum, yeah. They found no reasons to keep me here so they decided to let me out."
"So, no bail to pay?"
"No, no bail to pay."
"Great, 'cause I've already spent enough money for you, with all those road trip and you using my car all the time... And I'm sooo sure you would have never pay me back..." Maria started babbling.
Michael just pulled her outside the police station and they climbed in her car. They did the most of the drive in silence. Maria finally stopped the car in front of Michael's place.
"So... I guess I will not see you tomorrow at school?" She said with a glance at him.
"Well, maybe you will... Hum, Maria?"
She looked at him, waiting for him to say something, maybe a thank you...
"Nothing" He finally mumbled, getting out of the car.
"Yeah, sure, you're welcomed Michael. Call me anytime, days or nights, I will always be there for you!" She replied sarcastically. But she knew too well that it was true.
