PANSY PATCH
The Idea: The Pansy Patch is the Foundation’s new Grand Convention Fundraiser for ALL Thetas. You can participate whether you’re at Convention or not!

So what’s the big idea? YOU help Thetas from all over create a HUGE Theta Pansy Patch! Special die-cut pansies representing your thanks for others who have made a difference in your Theta experience will fill the walls at Grand Convention in Miami. It’s a simple, fun way to say “thanks” that supports the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and helps Thetas all over the world learn, grow, and excel. You can’t beat that!

The Deal: The Pansy Patch is a great way to share your thoughts and thanks with others.  For just $5 you can purchase a die-cut pansy in celebration, honor or memory of your Theta sisters. These special pansies will be displayed in patches for all to see throughout Grand Convention this summer in Miami.

If your honoree is attending Convention, she’ll receive a pansy sticker to wear indicating that she’s been honored through the Pansy Patch. If not, you and your honoree’s name will still appear in the special listing in the Theta Magazine, as well as right here on the Foundation website for all to see!

The Competition: Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, The Pansy Patch is also a competition between our nine Theta districts! Each district will have its own Pansy Patch display at Grand Convention. Which district will purchase the most pansies?

College chapters are competing against each other as well as by district. The goal is for 100% participation from each collegiate member. We hope that our alumnae will be just as enthusiastic about this challenge. Credit for alumnae purchases will go to your college chapter’s district unless you note your alumnae chapter on your information card. PLEASE NOTE MINNEAPOLIS ON YOUR CARD!!!!!!!

Don’t let your chapter and district down! Purchase your pansies today!

The Sale: The pansy pre-sale is on now through June 13, 2008. Pansies will then be on sale at Grand Convention in Miami June 18-22, 2008. You can purchase as many pansies as you’d like.

There are two ways to give to the Pansy Patch:

Dear Theta Sisters:                                                                                                                                                March 15, 2008

This June Thetas will convene in Miami, Florida for our biennial Convention. Fraternity President, Karen Ledbetter, will be retiring from Council service that last night of the Convention. Fraternity Presidents in the past have been honored with endowed scholarships or grants in their name upon their retirement. While having all these smaller endowment funds is good, larger endowments can be much more beneficial to the Fraternity and its overall membership.

Having talked to Karen, she has made it clear that she does not expect or desire a scholarship fund created in her name.  In fact Karen’s dream for the Fraternity is to provide an opportunity for every member to receive the leadership education they need to be successful today.  A lofty goal, but one she desires greatly.  To honor her and her dream, we’d like to announce the establishment of a Presidential Legacy Endowment Fund with the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.  This fund will establish an endowment that will take us closer to fulfilling Karen’s dream.  Along with her passion for leadership opportunities for Thetas, her wish was also to create an ongoing way to honor our retiring Presidents who serve our Fraternity and Foundation tirelessly.

Interest earned each year can be used for leadership opportunities deemed by the Fraternity and Foundation to be of the greatest need.  This means the funds could be used for individual leadership grants to members, help offset the costs of leadership programming hosted by the Fraternity such as the District Leadership Conferences or Karen’s dream of the creation of a leadership school or another leadership initiative for our college and alumnae members. We know from talking to our members, particularly the young members, that leadership training is high on their list of desired opportunities from the Fraternity.

This new Presidential Legacy Endowment Fund has great potential in that it means we will be able to offer our members life skills that they will be able to use in their Theta work as well as their personal lives.  This fund will truly be a case of sisters helping sisters.  We hope to be able to let Karen know the fund has been established with the initial $25,000 needed to do so at Convention this June.  Won’t you join me today in making a gift to this worthwhile and important fund in honor of Karen Ledbetter?  She will receive notice of your gift right after Convention.

Your gift today will help Theta grow our leaders of tomorrow.  Thank you.

Loyally,
Deborah B. Allen, Delta Theta 1972

Have you paid your dues for 2008? It’s not to late! Send yours in today!
The Kappa Alpha Theta Minneapolis Alumnae Chapter would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in 2007. Without the support of our dues-paying members, we would not be able to provide a high level of programming for our alumnae and direct support for our collegiate sisters. Along with the local support they provide, your dues are important to the entire Fraternity. Per Capita Dues in the amount of $15 per year are used by the Fraternity to offset the costs of programming and scholarships for our future leaders. The young women of our collegiate Theta chapters benefit greatly from the financial support provided by our Alumnae.
The Minneapolis Alumnae Chapter has many fun social and fundraising events planned for 2008. If you would like to be added to our email list for event notifications, please email mntheta@yahoo.com. We look forward to seeing familiar faced and rekindling old friendships in 2008!
Dues for 2008:
$30.00 Alumnae Dues Payment
$15.00 Senior Special Rates (for recent grads only)
$15.00 Associate Membership (for St. Paul Members or if you have paid dues to another chapter this year.)
Please make checks payable to Kappa Alpha Theta Minneapolis Alumnae and include “2008 dues” in the memo line.
