With things starting to look up
again in his romance with Jane Asher, Paul wrote what is
widely regarded as his greatest love song. Both John and
Paul declared that it was one of their favourite Beatles'
songs, Paul eventually re-recording it for use in his film
Give My Regards To Broad Street.
Paul wrote 'Here, There and
Everywhere' in June 1966 while sitting by John's outdoor
pool. He'd recently heard the Beach Boys' newly-released
album, Pet Sounds, which had impressed him because of its
musical complexity and inventive vocal arrangements. Paul
was particularly taken with the shimmering quality of 'God
Only Knows' and wanted to write something which captured the
same mood.
