This is a how the wing fillet for my MiG-3 went together. My version is a little different than the plans. I have made the wing removable, which made things a little different. With the exception of the retract servo, all of the radio equipment would be accessible from either the cockpit or the forward hatch. |
This is what the lower radiator scoop looks like. Simple construction, good looking results. The hole is for the wing hold-down screw. The tail end of the scoop is made from balsa blocks that are sanded to shape. |
This is what the plane looks like without side scoops or exhaust pipes. At this point the canopy is just "resting" on the fuse. The control surfaces are also not installed, but are held to the plane with tape from underneath. Hinges to be installed after glassing. |
And, finally, the full plane. This image was taken with the plane hung from some wire with a light overhead. At this point, it's ready for a once-over for correcting any/all flaws that need to be taken care of prior to having the 'glass work done. |
