You Don't Have To Put on That Red Light
Author: Firecracker Williams
The sunlight gradually began to shine through the dusty windows of the boys' bunkroom as Roxanne's eyes slowly opened, her cheeks getting warmed by the sun. For the first few seconds after she woke up, she laid in bed, briefly forgetting where she was. She rolled over to see a bare-chested Mush laying next to her, sound asleep. "Shit," she said softly, looking underneath the blankets to confirm her suspicions. "Roxanne, you did it again." Sighing, she reached up behind her and took Mush's shirt and slid it on over her head. She was about to climb down from his bunk when she felt his arm slide around her waist. "Oh no, not now. Please, not now..."

Mush smiled over at her, his eyes still closed, as he pulled her closer, "Mmm... Roxanne, you are a goddess."

"Thank you, Mush, but this goddess has got to get over to her bunkroom," she whispered, trying to crawl out from under him.

"Can't you at least give me something before you leave?"

Roxanne sighed, "Oh fine." She leaned over and gave him a quick kiss. "Can I go now?"

Mush shrugged, "I guess so, but I was hoping that you'd give me a little more." He put on his best pout, it was his best way of getting what he wanted out of her.

Roxanne looked at the pout and slowly shook her head, not wanting to displease him since he was, after all, a paying customer, "Fine, Mush, you win." She rolled her eyes and disappeared under the blankets.

*~*~*~*

After her encounter with Mush in the bunkroom, Roxanne felt something different inside of her. Instead of feeling used and violated like she did after such an encounter as this, she felt something that she didn't quite know how to describe, love. She looked at herself in the washroom mirror and shook her head, "Roxanne, you silly girl, are you mad? You can't feel this way, you're a fucking whore!" Ashamed of herself, she looked away from the mirror and sat down on the floor. She raised her hands to her face and began to cry softly.

"Are you okay, Roxanne?" Darla asked, quietly walking into the washroom.

Roxanne nodded and wiped her eyes, "I'm fine, I guess it's just something I ate." She looked down at her hands and sighed. "Or swallowed."

Darla walked over to Roxanne and sat down beside her, "Don't lie for my sake, Roxanne. Do you think I haven't noticed how you spend your days crying and moping around the house like you have all the weight of the world on your shoulders? You know, perhaps it's time that you stopped selling yourself and settled down with someone."

"But who would want to get into a serious relationship with a whore, especially one that's been whoring herself since she was twelve?"

"Mush would, he loves you."

Roxanne shook her head, "He doesn't love me, he loves what I do."

"He may love what you do, but, trust me, he loved you first! Just go and talk to him, you'll see."

*~*~*~*

Mush slid off of his bunk, hoisting one suspender over his shoulder as he headed into the guys' washroom, "That girl sure does have talent!"

"What girl?" Bumlets asked, clamping his hand down on Mush's shoulder.

"Roxanne."

"Oh, so I'm guessing that you got some last night, huh?"

Mush nodded, "Yeah, but she got my shirt this morning."

"Are you still payin' for her 'services'?"

"Yep, but one of these days, Bumlets, she's gonna be mine, all mine."

Bumlets chuckled, "If you say so, but there are plenty of girls here that would throw themselves at you if they were given the chance."

"I know, and the old me would've loved it, but Roxanne's all I want."

"I can't believe that you'd choose a girl that sells herself over some of the pretty, young virgins that we have here."

"None of the girls here are virgins except for Goosey, and she's very taken by Itey. Besides, if a girl gets paid for sleeping with a guy, she's gotta be good, and Roxanne's very good," Mush replied, chuckling.

Bumlets shrugged, "If that's what you really want."

"Yes, it is what I want," Mush nodded.

"Well then you should go for it."

"I'm gonna... as soon as I fix my shorts, I think I put them on backwards after Roxanne left."

Bumlets laughed, "She has that much of an affect on you, doesn't she?"

"She sure does, Bums, she does."

*~*~*~*~

Roxanne emerged from the girls' bunkroom, wearing her most "conservative" outfit which consisted of a long dark red skirt and a white long-sleeved button down shirt," Well, Roxanne, it's time. It's time for you to change your life." She was just about you head down to the lobby to wait for Mush when a very important thought crossed her mind. "How am I supposed to make money? I need this job to survive!"

"Roxanne..." a voice from behind her said softly.

Roxanne turned around to see Goosey standing behind her, tugging one of her curls out of frustration.

"You don't have to put on that red light."

"Goosey, what are you talking about?"

"Walk the streets for money, you don't care if it's wrong or if it is right! Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight or sell your body to the night!"

Roxanne shook her head, rolling her light green eyes, "You don't know what it's like, Goosey. You don't know what it's like having those men sweat all over you. You don't know how it feels to have their dirty hands running down your body. You don't know what it's like to know that you need to quit, only to find that it's the only thing you know!"

Goosey shrugged, "Maybe you're right, but I do know that I'm loved by a wonderful person, too bad you can't see that, too." She sighed sadly and turned around, walking back down the hallway.

"She's right," Roxanne said to herself, sitting down in the middle of the empty corridor.

Just then, a set of loud, powerful footsteps could be heard from the other end of the hallway, approaching quickly. They stopped just in front of Roxanne and she looked up to see one of her clients, a man from Manhattan by the name of Alex Reeves. "Hello there, Roxanne," he said, his ice blue eyes sparkling.

"Hello, Alex. Is there something that I can help you with?"

Alex nodded, pulling a few twenty dollar bills out of his pocket, "How would you like to make some money?"

"Now?"

"Right now."

Roxanne stood up and looped her arm through his, "Alright, where are we going this time?"

"We're going to a hotel a few blocks away. You'll be back before anyone begins to miss you."

"Sounds good to me," she smiled, looking down the hallway to see if anyone was around. "Let's go."

Mush turned the corner he was hiding behind as Roxanne and Alex disappeared down the hallway. "Roxanne, I love you," he whispered softly, knowing that he had lost again.

*~*~*~*

"That no good, dirty, rotten Manhattan man!" Roxanne shouted, storming back into the lodging house after her meeting with Alex in the hotel room.

"What happened?" Blaze asked, looking up at her from her spot in Bumlets' lap.

"Oh, you know, the usual. Alex waved a few twenty dollar bills in front of my face in order to tempt me into sleeping with him."

"Well, what's so bad about that?"

"The bum only gave me five! Sometimes I wonder why why I bother to say yes to him anymore..."

Bumlets shrugged, "That's just how you are, Roxanne, you never turn anyone down." He looked down at Blaze and sighed. Not even me.

Roxanne sighed heavily, "Bumlets, let's not get into that right now, okay? I feel so, I feel so, so dirty! If anyone needs me, I'll be taking a bath." he continued up the stairs, peeling her clothes off of her body on her way into the washroom.

Blaze looked up at Bumlets sadly, slowly running the palm of er hand up the side of his face, "You don't have to feel bad about it anymore, Bums, that was a long time ago."

"I know," Bumlets replied, nodding slowly, "but I feel like I'm betraying Mush."

*~*~*~*

Mush looked down at the small red flower in his hand and sighed, "If only she knew how I felt. If only I could hold her in my arms and not wonder who would be holding her after I was gone. If only..." His voice trailed off as he heard Roxanne's soft footsteps coming down the hallway. In an instant, he got up and ran out the door, trying his best to not seem too eager to see her. "Roxanne!"

Roxanne, now only in a corset and slip, turned around to face him. "Oh, Mush, hi," she said, blushing slightly. Dammit, Roxanne! Don't blush! Tell him you have to leave!

"How, umm, how are you?" he asked, grinning as he slowly approached her.

"I'm okay, thanks. Actually, I was just on my way to take a bath."

"A bath, huh? can I help?" he asked, pretending to be joking.

She sighed and bit down on her bottom lip nervously, "Thanks for the offer, but I think I need some time alone. We can save the kinky stuff for later, okay? She quickly kissed him on the cheek and disappeared into the girls' washroom.

Mush slowly hung his head in defeat, "I lost again, I guess I can't do this alone."

*~*~*~*

Roxanne locked the washroom door as soon as she closed it behind her, she wanted to be absolutely sure that no one would interrupt her. While walking over to the mirror on the wall, she undid the laces on her corset, letting it drop to the floor on top of her slip. She stood in front of the mirror and observed herself carefully, shivering from the coolr air that was in the room. "What makes me their damn sexual doll? I don't have anything that any other girl doesn't have, so why was I chosen to be the one they use for pleasure?" After asking herself this question, she walked over to the tub and filled it with warm water before climbing inside and sitting down. "I can't let myself ruin anymore lives. First mine, then Bumlets'. I can't let myself ruin Mush, too, that's why I can't let myself love him." She closed her eyes and slid underneath the water, letting her whole body get warmed by the heat of the water.

"Roxanne!" Darla shouted, loudly knocking on the washroom door.

Roxanne lifted her head out of the water and quickly wiped her eyes, "What?"

"Are you busy?"

"I'm taking a bath right now."

"Well grab a towel and get out here, it's important!"

"Ugh, fine!" She climbed out of the tub and grabbed the biggest towel she could, wrapping it around herself as she unlocked the door and opened it. "What could possibly be so important?"

Darla stepped into the washroom and she the door behind her, a serious look on her face, "Mush talked to me just now."

"So, what about it?"

"He wants me to help him..."

"With what? Why should this matter to me? If he wants you to help him deposit his sperm-"

"No," Darla interrupted, "he asked me to help him get you to love him."

Roxanne shook her head sadly, "Darla, I'm sorry, but I can't."

"Why not? Give me one good reason why you can't."

"Money."

"Money?"

"Yes, I need to make my money somehow!"

Darla rolled her eyes, "Try waitressing! Try selling a few fucking newspapers! If you really wanted to stop, you would've!"

"It's not that easy," Roxanne replied, tears welling up in her eyes.

"It isn't?"

"No, I try and I try, but once some guy waves a few bucks in my face, I can't resist! I want to believe that I can resist, but I can't seem to."

"Well, I'm sure that a certain newsboy would be oblidged to help."

"What do you mean?"

"Try having sex with Mush for free tonight."

"For free?"

Darla nodded, "See how it feels to do it for yourself for once and not for money."

"Can I at least get dressed first?" Roxanne asked, picking her corset up off of the floor.

"Sure, just back sure that you go and see him as soon as you're done! If you don't, there will be hell to pay," Darla agreed, opening the washroom door again.

"Okay, I will!"

"Promise?" Darla asked, walking out the door.

Roxanne nodded, "I promise." She quickly got dressed and walked out of the room.

*~*~*~*

Darla walked into the boys' bunkroom and approached Mush's bunk, smirking, "Hey there, bad boy."

"Huh? Me?" Mush asked looking up.

She nodded, "Yeah, at least you better be."

"Why's that?"

"You got yourself a date tonight!"

"A date?" Mush asked, his eyes widening.

"Yep," Darla laughed. "She should be in here any minute, so I better get going." She quickly walked out of the bunkroom and down the hallway, where she passed by Roxanne. "He's in the guys' bunkroom if you're looking for him."

"Thanks," Roxanne said, smiling, as she headed towards the bunkroom, her shiny red dress clinging to her slender frame as she walked. "Mush, are you in here?" she asked, walking into the bunkroom.

Mush looked up at Roxanne, a smile instantly forming on his face, "Yes, sweetie, I'm here. Did you, umm, want to see me for something?"

"As a matter of fact, I did," she replied, sliding onto his lap and running her hand down his chest.

"Really?" he asked, swallowing hard.

"Really," she whispered, lightly nibbling on his earlobe. After a minute or two, she pulled away and smirked. "I was thinking about something while I was taking my bath...."

"What about?"

"Well, I have this idea that I want to run by you."

"An i-idea?"

Roxanne nodded, running her soft, red lips along the side of his neck, "I thought that we could, well, have sex tonight..."

"Roxanne, I'd love to, but I don't have any-"

"Shhh..." Roxanne whispered, interrupting him with a passionate kiss.

Mush slid his arms around Roxanne's waist, enjoying the feel of her in his arms. Is this for real?

Roxanne slowly pulled away and without a word, stood up, offering Mush her hand, "Come with me." I hope I can go through with this, I've never done this for me before...

*~*~*~*

"It's just right through this door," Roxanne said quietly, opening up the Sick Room door.

"The sick room?" Mush asked, a confused look on his face. "We've never slept together in the sick room before, we've usually done it in the bunkroom."

Roxanne shrugged, "I know, but I figured we could do things a little differently this time." She sat down on the bed and reached around her, undoing the laces on her dress.

Mush curiously watched Roxanne, wondering what she was going to do, "Differently? How differently?"

"Sit down next to me and you'll see." She patted the space next to her softly.

"O-okay." Unsure of what was going on, he walked over to the bed and sat down next to her. "What do you want me to do?"

Roxanne bit her lip nervously before giving Mush her answer, "I, umm, I want you to take my dress off."

"Me?" he asked, blushing furiously.

"Yes," she replied, looking down shyly. It's not like I haven't done this before! Why am I so damn nervous?

Mush reached for the back of her dress, his hands shaking nervously as he slowly slid her dress off of her shoulders and down the rest of her body. He leaned down and gently kissed her soft skin where her dress once was.

Roxanne took a long, nervous breath as she slowly turned to face him. She smiled at him shyly and slid her hands underneath his vest, slowly sliding it off of his shoulders. After she took his vest off and tossed it aside, her hands slid to the front of his chest, slowly undoing each of the buttons on his shirt.

Mush sighed, gazing at Roxanne with an awed expression on his face. "Here, umm, let me help you," he stammered, fumbling with the buttons on his pants.

Roxanne giggled softly, sliding his shirt off his shoulder. Good, at least he's just as nervous as I am.

"Okay, here we go," Mush chuckled, finally sliding off his pants.

Roxanne laid back on the bed and smiled up at Mush. "Are you ready?" she asked, sliding her hand up his arm.

"Roxanne, baby, I've been ready."

"Good, because I'm ready too," she giggled and slid her arms around him, slowly pulling him on top of her.

Mush gently lowered himself on top of her, kissing down her neck and savoring the taste of her skin. "Mmm..."

Roxanne let herself sink deeper into the bed. Closing her eyes, she took Mush's hands and placed them on her chest, sliding farther down underneath him.

Mush looked down at her and his hands with a surprised look on his face. Never before had he been able to get this intimate with her, and he was never, ever allowed to touch her chest before. Nervously, he bit down onto his lower lip and gently eased himself into her body, releasing a low moan.

"Oh, Mush," Roxanne said breathlessly, her eyes slowly opening.

"Rox," Mush grinned, "I haven't even started yet!" With that, he began to move, slowly at first, but with increasing speed as the time went on

For the first time in the five years that she had been doing this very same thing, Roxanne began to move with him instead of laying there, pretending that she was somewhere else. Her hands slid up his stomach, feeling every muscle as if she wanted to remember this for years to come. Next, she slid her arms around his waist and pulled hhim down closer to her, kissing him with an undescribable passion that she had neither shown nor experienced before.

"Roxanne..." Mush moaned, his hands moving in circles on her chest.

"Y-yes?" Roxanne replied, squeezing her legs around him tightly.

"I... I love you."

Roxanne looked up at him, unsure of exactly what to say. Never before had she been told that she was loved, especially during sexual encounters. No, not now! Please, not now! "Are you... sure.... about that?"

Mush nodded, pushing harder against her, "I'm absolutely sure."

"Mush, I'm a prostitute, there are things about me that you don't know," she replied, digging her nails into the sheets.

"I don't care, you can tell me it all! I want you for myself.... forever." He groaned loudly, pushing against her one, last time before gently lowering himself down on top of her.

Roxanne turned her head to the side, panting heavily, "I can't give you any guarantees, but I can give you this." She turned to face him again and gave him a long, passionate kiss. "I'll think about it, I swear to you I will."

"That's all I need to get me by for now," Mush whispered, smelling her hair. "Have I ever told you how good you smell?"

"No," she giggled. "What do I smell like?"

Mush laughed and smelled her hair, "You smell like.... Sex and candy."

"Sex and candy? How do you know what sex smells like?"

"Well," he smirked, "sex is good, so I figured it's gotta smell good too, and you smell good."

Roxanne smiled, snuggling against him,"You are such a sweet-talker."

*~*~*~*

Roxanne quietly walked out the Sick Room as she and Mush planned and began to head down the hallway when she accidentally ran into Bumlets. "Oh, Bumlets! I'm so sorry," she apologized, fixing the crease in her dress.

Bumlets shrugged, looking away from her, "It's okay, don't worry about it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I'm sure! Where have you been hiding, anyway? No one's been able to find you for the last hour and a half!"

Roxanne looked down, blushing, "I was with Mush."

"Roxanne, you shouldn't toy with his feelings like that. The poor boy's in love with you and you're only in it for the money!"

"There wasn't any money involved this time, I swear!!"

Bumlets glanced at her, quickly looking the other way again, "But that's just this time. It's not like he's me, Roxanne. He loves you. Do you have any idea what he'd do if he found out about us?"

"I have a feeling I know what would happen," Roxanne replied, nervously ringing her hands. "Bumlets, what we did was a long time ago and you said it yourself, it meant nothing. How were we supposed to know that Mush had real feelings for me?"

Meant nothing my ass! "Well now we know and it only makes the problem worse. You have to tell him, right now."

"Now?"

Bumlets nodded, "Right now."

Mush was just rounding the corner when Roxanne finally agreed to tell him, "Okay, Bumlets, I'll tell him that we slept together."

Mush froze in shock, his back growing rigid against the wall. "Roxanne and Bumlets.... slept together?" he whispered softly in disbelief.

Bumlets grinned, "You're doing the right thing, Roxanne. I'd love to stay and see how he reacts, but Blaze and I have an "engagement" up on the roof."

"Okay, Bumlets! Have fun!" Roxanne giggled, waving as Bumlets picked up his walking stick and headed down the hallway to get ready for his date with Blaze.

Mush appeared from around the corner, his face extremely pale, "How could you, Roxanne?"

"How could I what?" Roxanne asked, turning around to face him.

"How could you sleep with Bumlets???"

She sighed, "Mush, that was a long time ago. It was long before we had even thought of getting together, money or no money. You barely even talked to me! How were we supposed to know that you had feelings for me??"

"You promised that you'd think about being mine and mine only, Roxanne!"

"Mush, are you even listening to me? What happened between me and Bumlets was over a year ago! It was just once, it meant nothing!"

"But that's how we started out. How do I know that you're not lying."

Roxanne looked down, she didn't want him to see that she was crying, "Because..."

"Because why?"

"Because," Roxanne growled, not yet ready to tell him that she loved him. "Wait... fuck this! I don't have to explain everything to you! That happened over a year ago and it hasn't happened since! I don't have to take this anymore." She turned around and stormed off towards the girls' bunkroom.

*~*~*~*

Bumlets looked at himself in the boys' washroom mirror and winked, "Bumlets, Blaze's gonna love you today, handsome!" His self-compliments were interrupted by a boot crashing into the mirror, causing it to shatter. "What the fuck?" he shouted, turning to see Mush was the culprit.

Mush glared at him, his other boot in his hand, "Damn, I missed."

"What the hell is your problem? Was Roxanne not as good as normal or something?"

"Gee, I don't know, have you slept with her lately?"

"Mush, that was over a year ago! Jesus, it never happened again."

"I thought you were my friend," Mush hissed, hitting the boot against the palm of his hand.

"I am your friend..."

"Then why did you sleep with Roxanne?"

"Dammit! You refuse to let go of that, don't you? I'm not exactly proud to say that I slept with her, but the temptation was there and I took it."

"How come you didn't tell me before?"

Bumlets shrugged, "I didn't think it was exactly all that important that you knew that I slept with Roxanne. She goes off with Alex and you never say anything about him, and he does her at least once a week!"

"Well Alex isn't my good friend."

"No," Bumlets replied, shaking his head, "he's a low-down dirty fuck who cheats the girl you love out of money and sex. You know, before you started overreacting, Roxanne was going to tell you that she loved you."

"She was?" Mush asked, dropping the boot.

Bumlets nodded, "She was, but after the way you treated her, I don't know if she still will." He looked down at the mirror and shook his head. "You might wanna clean that up. I'd help, but I need to go see Blaze before I do something to you that I'd regret." Quietly, he walked out of the room, leaving Mush alone with the broken mirror on the floor.

*~*~*~*

Roxanne curled up on her bunk and continued to sob, the sleeves of her dress getting soaked with tears. "I should've told him before, I should've told him."

"Should've told who what?" Blaze asked, fixing her hair.

"I should've told Mush about what happened with, umm, you know."

"Oh, I see. I take it he found out the hard way?"

"To say the least," Roxanne replied, sighing sadly. "I love him, Blaze, I don't know what to do."

"Well have you told him that you love him?"

Roxanne shook her head, "No, I'm too afraid to. He said that he loved me, but I just got so shocked that I couldn't say I loved him too. Then, when I was about to tell him, he blew up at me fore sleeping with Bumlets a fucking year ago!"

Blaze rolled her eyes, chuckling softly, "That boy has got to get his head out of his ass and see the whole picture. Sure, I was surprised at first, but I didn't overreact about it because it only happened once."

"You said it, Blaze!" Roxanne replied, laughing weakly.

Blaze nodded, slowly standing up, "Listen, I've gotta go and meet Bumlets on the roof. You know how he is when he can't get his way!"

"Yeah, he puts on that pout of his," Roxanne replied, snickering.

"Exactly, and that pout is not good!" She laughed again, "I really should go! I'll see you later!" Blaze walked out the door and up to the roof to meet up with Bumlets.

"Bye," Roxanne sighed, laying her head back down on her pillow. She closed her eyes, but they fluttered back open when she heard a noise out on the fire escape and a knock at the window. Yawning, she sat up to see Alex, still knocking on the window. "Alex? What are you doing here?"

"Let me in," Alex answered, knocking on the window again.

Roxanne sighed, opening the window, "Okay, now tell me why you're here."

"I want to talk to you," he replied, leaning in to kiss her.

Roxanne turned her head just before their lips met, "About what?"

"Oh, baby, you know what about." Alex grinned wildly down at her, his finger tracing her frame.

Why the hell not? I already messed things up with Mush.... "Okay, Alex, you win." She looped her arm through is and led him out the door.

Mush, deciding that it was finally time to apologize to Roxanne, headed out of the guys' bunkroom and down the hallway when he saw Roxanne and Alex arm in arm. He looked over at her sadly, lowering his head and continuing down the hallway.

Roxanne saw him and returned the sad look, their eyes locking just before he looked down. Maybe I shouldn't go with Alex. I can't mess this up now. I've seen the beauty that love really is and I can't lose that! Not now, not ever! She continued down the hallway with Alex and out the door, slipping her arm out from his.

*~*~*~*

Mush sadly trudged into the girls' bunkroom and sat down, "Darla, can I talk to you?"

"Sure," Darla replied, nodding. "What can I help you with?"

"It's Roxanne."

"What happened? Did she stand you up? Did she make you pay?"

"No," Mush answered, shaking his head. "We made love, love! Anyway, we made love and it was wonderful, but then I got jealous and messed everything up."

"What is there to be jealous of, Mush? You are probably the first guy to ever get that for free out of her, that's an accomplishment!"

Mush sighed, "I know, but her past is really hurting me. I kinda yelled at her and then I just saw her walking with Alex."

Darla rested her chin in the palm of her hand and began to think, "If I know Roxanne, which I do, you definitely had an effect on her. When she saw you, hopefully her guilt finally kicked in. If that isn't the case, just give her some time and apologize later."

"Thanks for everything Darla," Mush smiled, giving her a quick hug. "But what should I do until she comes back?"

"I dunno," she replied, shrugging. "You'll find something."

*~*~*~*

"Why'd you let go?" Alex asked, an angry tone in his voice.

Roxanne sighed, "Because I can't do this."

"What do you mean you can't fucking do this? I'm paying you good money!"

"The money doesn't matter anymore! I've found out that it's not just about money, and that's how I want it to stay. I'm sorry, but I can't do this. Take your damn money back." She slapped the money back in his hand and walked down the street, determined to find a way to make things right with Mush again.

Alex looked down at the money in his hand and growled, "You will regret saying no to me, Roxanne! You will!"

"Fuck you, Alex!" Roxanne shouted, still walking down the street.

When she was finally out of Alex's sight, Roxanne smiled, taking out the money that she pocketed from him when she slid her arm out from under his. "Roxanne, baby, it's time to make it up to Mush." Still smiling, she walked into the shoe store.

*~*~*~*

A short time later, Roxanne returned, a wrapped box in her hands. "Darla, have you seen Mush?"

"Yes," Darla nodded.

"Can you tell me where he is?"

"Sure, he's on your bunk."

"My bunk?"

"Yeah, he hasn't moved from there since he saw you with Alex. You didn't sleep with Alex, did you?"

Roxanne shook her head, "Heavens, no! But I did manage to pocket some money out of his pocket!" She smirked, pulling the remaining money out of her pocket.

Darla laughed, "Hey, I taught you that!"

"You sure did, and it definitely came in handy. I was able to buy these."

"What are they?"

"A surprise for Mush. That's why I need to find him."

"Oh, okay," Darla laughed. "Well, I'll leave you to delivering them to Mush. I'll make sure that no one interrupts you for a little while."

"Thanks, Darla!" Roxanne smiled, heading up the stairs to the girls' bunkroom. She knocked on the bunkroom dorr before opening it. "Mush, are you in here?"

"Yeah, I'm over here," Mush replied from her bunk.

Roxanne sat down next to him, placing the box in his lap, "I'm sorry for what happened earlier. I just want you to know that - "

"Nevermind," Mush interrupted. "So did you have fun with Alex?"

"I wouldn't know."

"Why not?"

"Well I was just about to tell you that. After I saw that sad look in your eyes, I couldn't go through with it. I got as far as the steps and told him that I wasn't going to go with him."

"You mean to say that you're willing to go without money for me?"

Roxanne smirked, "I wouldn't say that."

"Why's that?"

"Because I pocketed some of his money..."

Mush laughed, "Such a naughty little girl you are!"

"Yeah, I know. So, why don't you open your gift?"

"This is for me?" Mush asked, looking down at the box.

"That's why I put it in your lap!" Roxanne laughed.

Mush quickly opened up the box and pulled out a pair of new brown boots, "Roxanne, these must've cost a fortune!"

Roxanne shrugged, "After all the money you spent on me so I could eat and wear clothes, this is the least I could do."

"Well, there is something else you could do."

"What's that?"

"You can say that you love me."

"Mush," Roxanne smiled, sliding her arms over his shoulders. "I love you. I was going to tell you earlier, but I was too afraid." She leaned in and kissed him.

Mush gently put down the boots and returned the kiss, gently laying her back on her bunk.

Roxanne's hands moved along Mush's back, pushing his shirt over his head. She briefly broke the kiss to slide his shirt off all the way. "I meant it when I said I loved you," she whispered, kissing down his neck.

Mush nodded, unbuttoning the buttons on the front of Roxanne's shirt. He slid off her shirt, kissing down her neck and chest to her navel while he slowly slid off her skirt.

"Dammit, I need my brush," Taylor muttered, grabbing onto the knob of the girls' bunkroom door.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Darla said from behind her.

Taylor spun around, a confused look on her face, "Why not?"

Darla smirked, "Roxanne and Mush are kinda "busy". We're all just going to have to get used to it." Laughing, she walked down the hallway.
