As Someone Speaks

Someone speaks to me,
As I hear their soul,
I try to understand their emotions in all its complexity,
Feeling the same emotions someone else feels at that moment,
Brought through experiences that I've not actually been through,
Repeatedly,
I have walked through,
I have cried inside,
But it never over powers me to want to become numb,
Sometimes it brings fear,
That if it happens to them,
It could happen to me,
Hurting,
As a person lies cruelly about someone,
Feeling as much sadness as the innocent would have felt.
As someone screams,
The sadness as a whole of all things in this world,
Creates a hole in my heart,
A void that wants to be filled.

Here, Inside

Feeling forsaken,
Misplaced,
This child was brought to this place to live here,
Questions fill her mind,
Not understanding,
To young to know how to deal,
She lives here,
But really only survives,
This foster home is built from the poor,
And made with ragged wood, it is seen in the walls,
Like how her precious life was slowly built,
This house full of children,
Assisted with guardians,
Doesn't feel at all like home,
She lives day to day,
Time slowly passing by,
Not knowing what to think,
She has been abandoned by her father,
And with her now, is this feeling of an empty stomach and a sense of confusion,
All of this can be seen in her eyes,
Only wanting love,
Her sad eyes moisten her face,
Her tears fall,
Fall from the emotions deep in her heart,
To kind to ask for anything,
She waits,
While this place made for children,
Cannot support the needs of a child,
And it cuts like a knife in the soul.
