No Empathy
The world crumbles without empathy, And empathy has crumbled already, It falls even past the depths of despair, not even seeing it, Ages go by, Timeless wars leaving it lost from soldier's minds, Erasing wisdom with hate and pride. A woman kneels in the street with a horrified look, A man has shot her son to his death, In the killers face she saw a twisted soul with no empathy. The world skips a heartbeat again. The dance has stopped. A dolphin is drowning with fear in his eyes, Through the net, the family he loves is crying for him, They watch each other frantically as minutes seem to be hours, Do they understand that man has no empathy? As one family tries to cope, Another has run away, With no other choice but to leave.... The dieing deer that has fallen, With the power of the look in those painful eyes, Is seeing a man near, And there is still no empathy in the hunter's heart, No thought of how the family will grieve. Some visions so blank, Has not seen what has been. Not seen, As a starving child is clenching and loving his mother, Looking in each others eyes, They know this time will pass soon, Knowing there is nothing else they can do, The rest of the world will not shed a tear, 'Cause they never truly saw them. Empathy has confined what is real and what has been forgotten. As in a painting, the picture is something that is not real, But the painter's feelings are real, Using black as his most important color, It brings depth, Making it realistic, Life will not be real if the darkness of it is forgotten, And when realizing that, overlaying that with beautiful colors. ©2003 Molly Nicole |
