How do I sign up for activities?
Evite is generally used via e-mail to invite members to monthly events, and the
member just need to RSVP through that to sign up. Alternatively you can contact the activity
coordinator via telephone to let them know that you would like to
attend an event. Event contacts are listed on the monthly calendar
e-mailed
out at the beginning of each month.

What activities will we have each month?
Every month we have a general meeting (speaker, discussion or fun
activity), a MOMS Night Out, Park Day, Book Club, Scrapbooking Club, Recipe Club,
Field Trip, Brunch Bunch, Playgroups and other various seasonal activities.
Our chapter has set up these activities to occur on the same day every
month ( see the calendar for examples) so you
can plan ahead for the activities you want to participate in. However, it
is important to always check with the calendar because, occasionally,
these dates may change.
Activity
groups are an important part of MOMS Club because they give you the chance
to explore new places and meet moms with children of different ages.
Activity groups are also a way to support one another. Check our Activities
Page for a complete listing of our activities with descriptions.

Am I expected to come to every function?
Of course not! Pick and choose what activities you have time for in your
schedule and plan accordingly. This is why we plan our monthly calendars
in advance; to allow you the opportunity to see what activities the club
will have and allow you to choose those activities that interest you most!

Who runs our MOMS Club?
We have an Executive Board: President, Administrative Vice President,
Membership Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All serve for a term
of one year, and may choose to run for more terms during annual elections
in June. In addition, we have coordinators that serve on varying
committees to help with such things as hospitality, parties, activities,
etc.

Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome at every MOMS Club function even MOMS Night Out, although most moms choose leave the kids at home with dad or a sitter
for this event.

How do you run a meeting with children
present?
Our meetings are very casual and we don't expect to have the children to
sit quietly - we expect them to play and have fun, just as we do in our
own homes. MOMS Club feels that it is so important that we allow kids to
stay with moms, for whatever reason, that we encourage this, not just
tolerate it. Of course, if your child is becoming disruptive to the
meeting we do ask that you leave the area until they are ready to return.

How much are the dues and what are they used for?
Your dues of $25/year go to several club expenses. Postage, office supplies,
bank fees, calls to our
regional coordinator, refreshments for meetings and activities are just
some of the examples. We are also required to pay $2 per member to International
MOMS Club annually to cover the costs for running the whole
organization. Checks can be made payable to "MOMS Club of Austin-SW, TX" and handed in to our Treasurer at one of our monthly
meetings.

Why does the MOMS Club meet during the day?
The first and most important reason all MOMS Club chapters hold their
meetings during the day is because that is when stay at home moms need
support the most. Mothers need adult companionship during the day. Second,
holding night meetings disrupts family life. We want to encourage families
to do things together, and planning activities during the few hours when a
family is together during the week only defeats that purpose. Third,
remember that although some husbands can take care of the children by
themselves after a long day at work, not all are willing or able. If their
wives are going to have to choose between going to a MOMS Club meeting or
letting their husbands relax, which do you think they are going to choose?
A group that wants to support the at-home mother and family life should
put no mother in that position.

Can I invite non-member friends to MOMS Club
gatherings?
Non-members may attend 2 functions, either park days or monthly meetings,
before joining MOMS Club. It is against our by-laws, however, to allow
non-members to attend MOMS Club Playgroups or Activities in members homes.
By doing so, we could lose our status as a chapter. Dues are kept low to
encourage membership, and if ever paying dues is a hardship, please see an
Executive Board member who can help.

Can I bring other people’s children along with
my own to MOMS Club functions?
Yes, but they MUST have three things on file with the club: a permission
slip, a liability release form & a medical release form signed by both
parents.
Ask an Executive Board member for copies if you need them.
