ILLNESS POLICY

In an effort to keep everyone as healthy as possible, please use the following guidelines when attending a MOMS Club function. Please don’t attend meetings or activities if you or your children have or have had the following symptoms in the preceding 24 hours:

· vomiting or diarrhea
· extreme lethargy
· oral temperature of 100+ degrees
· severe cough or pain
· discharge from the eyes
· green mucous
· or any other communicable disease (i.e. chicken pox, etc.)

These guidelines help to protect all of our moms and kids from illness, especially those more vulnerable to disease, like small infants and pregnant women.  If in doubt, take the safe route and stay home until everyone is completely well.
ACTIVITY SIGN UPS

Members may sign up for any activities offered either at the Monthly Meeting or by calling the contact person listed in the Newsletter.  Members who sign up for an activity MUST call to cancel if they cannot attend a particular activity.  If you find you cannot attend an activity you’ve signed up for, simply call the Activity Contact Person in charge of the activity (this information is listed in the Newsletter).

A tip for remembering what you’ve signed up for at the Monthly Meeting: as you’re signing up, keep the calendar that is provided at the end of the Newsletter with you, and mark the calendar for every activity you’ve signed up for.
SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

In the event of severe weather conditions,  listen to WCOJ 1420AM or visit www.dasd.org.  If the Downingtown Area School District has a one hour delay, two hour delay or a cancellation of classes for the day, the Monthly Meeting will be canceled.

For all other activities, in the event of severe weather conditions, the Activities Committee contact person for the activity which you have signed up for will call you to inform you if the activity is being canceled.
PLAYGROUP GUIDELINES

All new members will be contacted by the Playgroup Coordinator and asked if they wish to join a playgroup.  Playgroups usually consist of 4-6 members and their children, and meet once a week on a rotation basis at each member’s home.  The following are some general guidelines for all playgroups:

· Participation in a playgroup is available to all MOMS Club members in good standing with a signed Membership Application and Liability Release form on file.
· New members will be placed in an existing playgroup only after the approval of the playgroup.  If no playgroup is available, a waiting list will be created until a spot comes available, or there are enough members waiting to form their own playgroup.
· Playgroups may choose the day/time of their playgroup for their convenience, to be limited by (1) Playgroups must be held during the day, and (2) Playgroups are not permitted to meet on the first Wednesday of the month, due to the Monthly Meeting.
· Children’s behavior that is threatening to the other children will not be permitted.
· Any Playgroup member not comfortable with their playgroup may request a change of playgroups by contacting the Playgroup Coordinator.
HELPING HANDS GUIDELINES

Helping Hands is a service the membership of the MOMS Club offers to any member in need of support.  A situation needing support includes but is not limited to the following: birth of a child, death in the family, separation or divorce, illness, injury, hospitalization or high risk pregnancy.  Other situations that arise will be judged case by case by the Helping Hands Coordinator and the Executive Board.

A support system such as this is to include the entire membership, both in receiving and giving support.  All members are to realize that they may be called upon to offer support.  If, when approached by the Helping Hands Coordinator, you are unable to give support, do not feel any pressure to help at that time, as we realize that there are times when it is not possible for you to help out.

Assistance to a member in need may include the following: meals delivered to her home, cards, phone calls, e-mails, Babysitting, assistance with errands and shopping or visits.

We ask that all members who learn of a situation of a member in need to first contact that member to ask if it is all right with her if you notify the Helping Hands Coordinator.  Remember that everyone deals with situations differently, and some people are very private or do not desire help. If that member is willing, the Helping Hands Coordinator will contact her.

The Helping Hands Coordinator will contact everyone in the member in need’s playgroup first, then contact members from Membership Directory if more help is needed.

Remember that if no one knows of a situation a member is dealing with, no one can help.  Please keep the Helping Hands Coordinator informed!
LIABILITY WAIVERS FOR NON-MEMBERS

Any child(ren) attending a MOMS Club function or event with someone other than their mother must have a Permission to Join in an Activity and Medical Release Form signed by his mother in order for that child to attend.  The form is to be filled out once a year and is good for the entire MOMS Club Calendar Year, which runs June to July.

These forms are included in this New Member Information Packet.  Additional forms may be acquired from the Membership Vice President.  Please note, children attending a MOMS Club function or event will not be allowed to attend without the Liability Waiver Form.  This form ensures that the mother of the child attending understands that the MOMS Club and/or it’s representatives are not to be held liable in the event of an accident.  It also gives permission to the mother in charge of the child(ren) to make any Medical decisions, if necessary.
