The International MOMS Club® (MOMS Offering Moms Support) is a non-profit support group for mothers who have decided to stay at home to raise their children. We include mothers of all ages and interests, as well as those who work out of their homes or work part-time. The MOMS Club is the only international, non-denominational support group specifically for At-Home mothers and their children. The MOMS Club was founded in Simi Valley, California, in 1983 by Mary J., an At-Home mother who felt isolated and saw a need for a group to support herself and other mothers like her. Even today, many At-Home mothers struggle with societal acceptance of their jobs, loneliness, isolation and stress. The MOMS Club offers At-Home mothers an opportunity to socialize with other mothers and their children, practice their hobbies and interests and support other mothers in our group and, through service projects, our community as well. From it’s humble beginnings, the International MOMS Club® has grown to over 2000 chapters worldwide and continues to grow monthly. Although each group operates independently –choosing its own projects and handling its own accounts - all local MOMS Clubs are registered with the International MOMS Club The MOMS Club of Pickering Valley offers many opportunities for At-Home mothers to meet other mothers. We meet on the first Thursday of every month at the local library. Please contact us for more information. Babysitting is provided by MOMS Club volunteers when there is a speaker, approximately 4 times a year. The remainder of the meetings are geared towards the children. Children are always welcome at all MOMS Club activities! In addition to our monthly meetings, we offer: 1) Twice weekly activities, which are usually free or of low cost. Examples include Park Days, tours of Firehouses, Post Offices, Police Stations and local interest activities. 2) Playgroups: Consisting of approximately 4-6 moms and their children, Playgroups are the best way to meet other mothers with children of the same age. 3) Helping Hands: Helping Hands is a service to any MOMS Club member in need, be it illness, pregnancy or family emergency. Chapter members will provide meals, babysitting or other support as needed. 4) Potluck: This monthly dinner is geared towards members whose husbands either work late or travel. We meet at a member’s home and each mom brings a dish to share with the other moms and children. 5) MOMS Night Out: Once a month, encourage dad to watch the kids and enjoy a night out on the town. Evenings out include movie nights, shopping, dinner, and at the Holidays, a Cookie Exchange. Children are always welcome at all MOMS Club activities. 6) Craft Activities: Once a month a member opens her home for a craft for either the kids or the moms. 7) Walking Club: Ready to shed a few pounds or just get outside for a brisk walk? Membership dues are $30.00 per year, payable to the MOMS Club of Pickering Valley. We also realize that staying at home often means making financial sacrifices, so dues can either be reduced or waived due to financial hardship. Please contact the Membership Vice President at the telephone number listed on the Newsletter for further information. You are invited to attend two monthly meetings before joining. However, to participate in any activities or playgroups, you must become a member. As soon as we receive your Membership Application and dues, you may begin to participate in MOMS Club activities. Our Playgroup Coordinator will contact you to place you in a playgroup, if you are interested.
