| Alex's Lemonade Stand The MOMS Club® of Richardson-East hosted two Alex’s Lemonade Stands in 2006, and has raised more than $5,100 for pediatric cancer research. What is Alex’s Lemonade Stand? Alexandra "Alex" Scott was the 8 year old founder of Alex's Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research. Two days before her first birthday she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. As a 4 year old, she and her brother Patrick set up their first lemonade stand in their front yard to raise money for pediatric cancer research. For the next 4 years, Alex held an annual lemonade stand. Inspired by her commitment, thousands of lemonade stands have been held across the country all to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer. More than $6 million has been raised. On August 1, 2004, Alex died at the age of 8, but her spirited determination has inspired thousands of people to raise money through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501c3 charity.
