Activity Groups & Committees
We have a number of Activity Groups that meet regularly throughout the month.
This allows you to meet other moms on an even more personal level that share
some of the same interests as you while the kids get together to play.  We also
have committees whose members help out and participate whenever they are
needed.  Currently, our activity groups and committees include:

BABYSITTING CO-OP  The babysitting co-op is a network of members interested in
babysitting for one another for free.  You trade out babysitting for chips or beads and earn them
when you babysit for another Mom.  The members get together regularly so the moms
involved can become more familiar with the other mothers and children.

BIBLE STUDY: This group meets the first and third Fridays of each month.  Currently we
are basing our discussions on the book "Power of a Positive Mom" by Carol Ladd.  Come join
                                                us for some inspiration!.

BOOKCLUB: This group meets the 2nd Monday of the month.  The goal is to read one book
each month from the New York Times Bestseller's List and discuss it over snacks while the kids
play.  Recent books we have read include "The Nanny Diaries", "The Summons", "The Smoke
                                                Jumper" and "Midnight Bayou".

COOKING CLUB: This group meets once a month to have a potluck with a theme.  For
example, with a Mexican theme, everyone brings a mexican dish with copies of the recipe to
share.  We all eat and share recipes.  We also vote on our favorite dish to be in the following
month's newsletter.  This is a great way to get new recipes and try them out ahead of time.  We
have different themes each month (salads, desserts, casseroles, quick dishes, etc.)

HOSPITALITY:  When any Mom in our chapter needs support after a new baby is born,
during an illness, a sick spouse or whatever, this group jumps in to give support in the way of
dinners, child care or whatever is needed.  It really is an easy way to show how much you care!

KIDS CRAFT DAY: Kids craft day is a hands-on activity geared towards the ability of our
kids.  Past activities have included garden critters made out of egg cartons, hand-print gifts
for Mother's and Father's Day, macaroni necklaces and crafty musical instruments.  Even the
littler ones can participate in our activities!

LUNCH BUNCH: Lunch bunch meets monthly at a local restaurant or for potluck lunches in a
member's home or at a park for some tasty food and fun fellowship.

MOMS NIGHT OUT: Once a month, we take a break from the kids when dads can stay
home with them and get together with other moms for a night of fun!  Different activities have
included going out to a restaurant (sometimes locally like Benihana's, sometimes in Houston like
The Cheesecake Factory), out for a movie, bowling, to a member's home for a night of games,
pizza and a movie, a shopping trip to Katy Mills mall for some holiday shopping and much more!
We always have lots of fun no matter what we do and it's a great way to get to talk to other moms
                                                "one-on-one"!

MOVIE CLUB: This club meets monthly to discuss a movie that they've all rented that
month--whether its a new favorite or an old classic--while the kids play!

PLAYGROUPS:  Playgroups are a terrific way for you and your child to get together with
other children the same (or close) age as yours.  We have playgroups for all ages from newborns
on up. Playgroups are also a great place to talk to other moms who are going through the same
stages as you are with your children and swap tips and ideas.  Playgroups meet once per week
and often meets in a member's home, at a park or some other fun place.  If you have more than
one child, we also have sibling playgroups for mixed ages!

SCRAPBOOK CLUB: The purpose of this club is to work on our personal scrapbooks and at
the same time have fun and be productive!  We meet monthly and to join, we ask that you share
ideas and non-consumable supplies (scissors, punches, templates, etc.) and of course have fun.
Whether you're up to date, more than a year behind on your scrapbooks or just starting, you’ll fit
                                                right in!

SECRET SISTERS:  This is a fun thing for the MOMS only and is completely optional (like
anything!)  Participants have a secret sister in our chapter for six months.  During that time you
try to brighten her days by doing a couple thoughtful things each month like dropping a card in the
mail, bringing cookies for her at the monthly Business Meeting, etc.  (The trick is trying to keep
your Secret Sister from discovering who you are!)  After six months we have a Revealing Party
where you inform your sister of your identity.  By participating, you are also another Mom's secret
sister.  This group is SOOO much fun, and you will have two closer friends from it!

WALKING/RUNNING CLUB: This group of Moms are the ones in the club that are in
shape!  We connect you with moms as close as possible and with the same requirements as you
                                                to be walking/running buddies.

WELCOME COMMITTEE  Remember how scary it is to join a new group and not know
anyone?  Well, the Welcome Committee works to make sure that doesn't happen with our MOMS
Club!  The Welcome Committee also keeps a list of referrals for new people in the area for
important things like pediatricians, hair salons, home repair, etc.  The Referral List is also
available to all Moms in the chapter who are also in need of this service.
