Monacan wins season opener in Strictly Soccer Tournament at Prince George against host team. Chiefs own the first half, with Reiner, Connally and Robinson controlling midfield and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Golob opens scoring for Chiefs with goal in 10th minute on a nice assist from freshman Cheatham. Prince George comes out strong in the second half, dominating play and applying pressure on Monacan goal throughout. Golob creates an "own goal" on the hour by winning the ball from a Prince George defender and crossing the ball for a deflection off another Royal defender and into the net, putting Chiefs up 2-0. Grover makes several big saves for the Chiefs during the second half, finishing with eight for the match. Prince George scores in the 71st minute on a corner, making for a tense finish. Chiefs hang on to advance to tournament final.

Chiefs lose in finals of Strictly Soccer Tournament at Prince George. Midlothian defensive effort is the difference, never allowing the Chiefs to seriously threaten. Midlothian stuns Chiefs early with the only goal from the run of play in the 2nd minute. Later in the half, Trojans strike again on perfectly placed direct free kick over the Monacan wall, just inside the left post. Trojans close the scoring in the second half on a corner kick, their center back making a late run into the area unmarked to redirect the corner into the goal. Beatty stands out for the Chiefs' attack, working relentlessly on the ball. Gerry plays strong defense. Saves: Grover 10.

Chiefs play well in difficult defeat. Wildcats open scoring in the 2nd minute. Chiefs respond quickly, with Cheatham finishing a nice cross from Golob to pull level in the 5th minute. Game remains tied at 1-1 until the 80th and final minute when the Wildcats strike for the win. For the match, Chiefs total a slight advantage in possession time and shots. Their attack features a nice combination of multiple quick pass buildups and counter attacking long balls.

Chiefs fail to find their form in opening district match. Both teams create scoring chances in first 15 minutes but are denied by excellent keeper play. Skyhawks score first in the 18th minute. Chiefs pull level in the 25th minute as Golob scores an unassisted goal, taking the ball from the Skyhawks' central defense to break free on the keeper. Byrd scores eventual game winner nine minutes into the second half. As the match wears on, players from both sides are affected by cramps on this first warm night of the season. Grover's goalie play is excellent overall. In addition to early saves, he comes out of the box on several occasions to thwart the Byrd attack. Grover records seven saves.

Tigers open the scoring in the 4th minute as a deflected ball finds a wide open attacker in the right side of the area. Meanwhile, Monacan plays play well in defense and has the advantage in possession for the match but struggles to create scoring chances in the attacking third. Chiefs draw level in the 15th minute as Connally times his run perfectly down the center to finish Edwards' free kick from 45 yards. Half ends tied at 1-1. Beatty finds space in the 77th minute and surprises the Tigers' keeper with a glorious strike from 25 yards for the game winner. Grover has four saves for Moncan.

Region's No. 2-ranked Cavaliers put their high level of technical ability and team speed on display throughout this match. Chiefs find themselves defending in their own end for the majority of the first half, trailing 2-0 at the break. Monacan generates some play in its attacking end during the second half. Chiefs make it a match in the 51st minute as Reiner finds Golob down the right flank and Golob gets behind the defense for a close-in goal. Chiefs' hopes are short-lived as Clover Hill regains control two minutes later with its third goal. Monacan saves: Grover 6.

Overall, Monacan displays excellent one-on-one and team defending of the Trojans' three-forward attack, highlighted by Gerry's sliding clearance of a ball off the goal line and several reaction saves by Grover. Midlothian scores once in each half in the 17th and 49th minute. Trojans superior in the air throughout this match. Chiefs applied more pressure to the Trojans' goal than in earlier match, but still fail to find the back of the net. Grover has 12 saves.

Monacan comes out focused in the second half, playing a fluid possession style of soccer, which leads to a six goals in the first 20 minutes. Cheatham gets his brace (2nd goal), followed by Louissaint, Beatty, Golob and an Everett brace. JV call-ups Horner and Burnett perform well in their varsity debut. Monacan saves: Grover 1, Burnett 0.

Another close, disappointing loss for Chiefs to a Region Top 10 team. Chiefs play well as a team throughout match and continue to give high level of effort. Golob opens scoring in the 7th minute, winning the ball from the Skyhawk's left back and beating the keeper with a shot to the near post. Bird answers in the 31st minute with a nice goal on a diving header. Eventual game winner for the Skyhawks comes in the 35th minute. Second half features entertaining end to end play with the Chiefs unable to find the equalizer. Monacan saves: Grover 16.

Chiefs score first in the 21st minute as Horner flicks a ball forward to Cheatham, who uses athletic ability to get behind the Lancer defense for breakaway goal. In 60th minute, Reiner is fouled in the area but Chiefs fail to convert the penalty kick. Lancers pull level in the 78th minute as Chiefs are unable to clear a corner kick. Winning goal for Manchester comes midway through the first overtime period. Monacan saves: Burnett 1.

Chiefs turn it around after intermission, playing one of best halves of the season. Prince's second half defending of one of the region's best attacking players is outstanding. First half sees a lone Cavalier goal in the 2nd minute. Chiefs unlucky in the 20th minute as Gerry's shot finds the cross bar and bounces off the goal line. Cavaliers score two early 2nd half goals to seemingly take control. Monacan shows usual never-quit attitude as Cheatham catches the Clover Hill keeper off guard from the top left side of the area in the 51st minute. One minute later, Konseck finishes a cross mis-handled by the Clover Hill keeper to draw the Chiefs within one. Monacan searches for the equlaizer over the next 20 odd minutes. Cavaliers wrap things up with a goal in the 75th minute. Monacan saves: Grover 12.

Chiefs play spirited first half despite Trojans jumping to a two-goal lead after 25 minutes. Chiefs pull one back in the 27th minute as Golob chests down Reiner cross directly in front of the goal and out-tussles Midlo defender and keeper for a tap-in goal. Trojans come out after the break and dominate play, adding a pair of goals. Monacan saves: Grover 9.

Lancers score early in the 3rd minute. Chiefs draw level in the 20th minute as Golob's deflected shot from 25 yards eludes the Lancers' keeper. Teams remain tied at halftime. Eventual game winner for Manchester comes in the 37th minute on a well-placed direct kick from 30 yards. Chiefs threaten during the second half but cannot find the equalizer. Grover makes some excellent one-on-one saves for the Chiefs during the match and finishes with 13 saves.

Chiefs cruise to victory in final match of the season. First-half goals come from Cheatham's strike from 18 yards and a pair of PK's by Golob for a 3-1 advantage at intermission. Shortly after the break, Reiner finishes nicely from 6 yards. Cheatham adds his second goal from 20 yards after maneuvering nicely to create space. Danzeisen then strikes from 30 yards. Pflueger closes out the scoring for the Chiefs by heading into a wide open net after a perfect cross. Monacan saves: Grover 4.
