Meredith Starr scores all 7 of her points in the last 3 minutes, including shooting a perfect 4 - 4 from the free throw line in the last minute of the game. Monacan outscores Meadowbrook 25 – 16 in the final stanza to seal the come from behind victory. Audrey McCarty records a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Meredith Starr also hit 5 three pointers to add 15 points. Monacan's defense is led by Emari Ready and Abbie Gray who took away the Skyhawk ball handling all night. The Chiefs play Monday against Manchester for the regional championship and play in the state tournament on Saturday against either TC Williams or Edison from the Northern Region.

The Chiefs continue to pull away from the overmatched Lancers in the third, grabbing a 31 - 13 advantage. All of the Chiefs see action in this one-sided game. Ashley Toombs scores 18 points to lead Monacan.

The Chiefs play tough throughout but lose a hard fought battle to arch rival Midlothian. Both teams start tentatively as
the Chiefs build a 2-point lead to end the first quarter. The Trojans
pull ahead at the end of the half 18-15, and expand their lead to 9 to
start the fourth quarter. The Chiefs refuse to fold, tying the game at 33 with
2:10 remaining as Ellen Meyer scores 5 points in 10 seconds. The game
goes back and forth as neither team can pull away. Jordan Beadles was unable to return after being fouled hard and knocked to the floor on a drive to the basket with 19.8 seconds left. Teren Cowart comes in to shoot Beadles' free throws and hits the first of two to knot the score at 37; however, the Trojans are able to score three in the closing seconds for the win. Ellen Meyer leads the Chiefs with a double-double - 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Ashley Toombs hits two 3-pointers to start the game as Monacan jumps to a quick four point lead. But the Chiefs did not maintain their intensity after the long Christmas break, falling behind the Rapids by four at the end of the first quarter. Monacan continues to struggle as James River pulls away, expanding their lead to nine at the half. Although the Chiefs try hard to get back in the game in the second half, as Ashley Toombs scores 10 of her team high 16 points after the break, the Rapids prove to be just too much as they increase their lead in each of the last two quarters to post a 17 point win. Toombs hit four 3-pointers in the game and Jordan Beadles added two 3-pointers.

Monacan’s shooting woes continue in the second quarter, but they are able to cut Bird’s lead to only four at the half. In the second half, the Chief’s are hot and cold from the floor and the free throw line, falling behind Bird by as much as 19 points. Monacan closes the gap to 10 points with 2:57 left in the game before the Skyhawks pull away to seal the victory.

The Chiefs come out firing and take a two point lead over the Cavaliers at the end of one period. Clover Hill regroups in the second quarter and jumps to a five-point lead at the half, 22-17. Monacan continues to play hard cutting the Cavalier’s lead to a slim three-point margin to start the last quarter. With three minutes left in the game, the Chief’s grab a one point lead, 37-36, but are unable to score again as Clover Hill scores the last seven points to win the district match up. The Chiefs are lead by Ashley Toombs, who pours in 17 points, and Ellen Meyer, who pulls down 18 rebounds.

The Chiefs get off to a very slow start, turning the ball over on their first seven trips down the court and going 0 - 12 from the field in the first quarter, their scrappy defense keeps them in the game as the Falcons take a 7 - 2 lead at the end of the first stanza. Monacan’s offensive woes continue at the start of the second quarter, their first field goal of the game comes with 6:03 left in the period; but they are able to cut Huguenot’s lead to three, 17 - 14, at the half. The fourth quarter begins with the Chiefs down only one point. Monacan gets their offense untracked and pulls ahead of Huguenot 36-34 with 3:45 left in the game. The lead goes back and forth until the Chiefs take the lead for good with just over a minute remaining. Monacan outscores Huguenot 15 to 10 down the stretch to grab a hard fought win. Ellen Meyer (double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds), Jordan Beadles (14 points with a three-point field goal) and Brittni Logan (11 points) lead the Chiefs.

The game starts very slowly for both teams; the Chiefs don't score a field goal until over 6 minutes has elapsed in the period and the Trojans fail to score in the first quarter as Monacan jumps on top 6-0. The Chiefs get things going in the second quarter as they outscore the Trojans 17-7 to take a 23-7 lead to the locker-room. Midlothian mounts a come back bid in the third quarter, outscoring the Chiefs 13-7, to close the Monacan lead to only ten points. In the fourth period, the Trojans attempt to get back in the game by putting the Chiefs on the foul line but Jordan Beadles, Brittni Logan, and Ashley Toombs combine to sink 8 of 11 free throws in the closing minutes (Beadles hits six straight) to seal the win for the Chiefs over their fierce district rival. Beadles leads all scorers with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Monacan grabs their first lead of the game, 12-11, with 5:00 minutes left in the first half, and take a 19-18 lead to the locker room. The game remains close in the third period as the Chiefs retain their slim one-point lead, 28-27, at the end of three quarters. The game stays close in the fourth quarter and Varina is able to pull out a two point victory in this non-district hard fought battle. The Chiefs are led by Ellen Meyer (double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds), Ashley Toombs (10 points), and Jordan Beadles (9 points).

Ellen Meyer hits a three point shot to start the game and the Chiefs jump out to a 7-0 lead before the Skyhawks get their first point with 5:20 left in the quarter. Neither team can muster much offense in the first half, as Monacan holds a 10-8 lead at the end of one period, and a 16-14 lead at the end of two. In the third quarter, the Monacan offense shows signs of life outscoring Bird 10 to 7 to take a 5-point lead into the last eight minutes. Although Bird tries desperately to take the lead, the Chiefs hold off the Skyhawks’ attack until the last minute of the game. Trailing 30-33, Bird was able to convert on two field goals in the closing 10 seconds of the game to pull out the win. Ellen Meyer led the Chiefs with another double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds), and Kara Fikse pulled down 18 rebounds in the heart wrenching loss.

In the second quarter, the Cavaliers add a full court trap to further stymie the Chiefs — as they double their lead over Monacan to 18-12 at the half. The Chiefs get rolling in the third quarter, cutting Clover Hill’s lead to four at 27-23. In the final quarter, Monacan cranks up their intensity, tying the game at 30 with 4:19 remaining. The Chiefs can’t maintain the level of play, however, and the Cavaliers pull away for the victory. Jordan Beadles leads the Chiefs with 16 points (she hits five 3-point shots) and Ellen Meyer contributes 12 points.
