I orginally got the idea from my friend Brent (you can find a link of his page in my links section) who atcually got the idea from Inferno (also in links). After Brent let me borrow it for a day it grew on me and by the end of the day I was set on fabricating my own. I got an old maglite that I had laying around and began to hollow it out. You'll need a set of pin noise pliers and also a hammer and punch. (while there is probably another way to get the rest of it out...I really didnt want to try. Since I was throwing away the internals anyways) Unscrew the front light section of the light and remove front. You'll see inside a silver ring with two indentions on the each side. Use the pin nose to spin it out. Then use the hammer and punch to slam out the internals. Then with a saw or pipe cutter cut off the outside threaded section of the pipe (which is about 1.5")

First off you will have to drill a hole into the battery cap. It's up to you on how big you drill it. It mostly counts on the size of the inner barrel that you are using. Now get a PVC pipe (only 69 cents from City Mill) and drill holes into it in a pattern or just drill tons of holes. Then get a good adhesive (ie. JB Weld, epoxy, etc.) and glue the barrel to the cap. When this is done wrap it with a breathable foam and screw all of it back into the flashlight tube.

At this point it should be looking like this. Well...maybe just a little less damaged though. The maglite I used was old and broken.

Next get some pipe insulation ($1.96 at City Mill) and shove it into the other side of the tube. Then using the screw in cap (this cap is part of the internal components that you removed earlier) screw it into the rear to complete the look of the silencer. Click here to continue...
