Betta Splendens, commonly known as Siamese Fighting Fish originated from South East Asia. The Bettas you find today are waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy more attractive than their ugh! ancestors. They are chosen for their aggressiveness rather than their beauty as Betta fights are very popular back then. By selective breeding,now, there are a lot of different kinds of betta splendens, varying from colours to tail types.
