The Daemon Wars
Introduction: There are many times when
the forces of Chaos have assaulted the world and the battles fought have been
the most destructive and bloody in the history of the Warhammer world. Time and time again the forces of darkness
have been turned back, but at an ever-increasing cost. These battles and the
history of Chaos are so recorded by the free people of the Warhammer World,
but very rarely is there any recollection of the times when Chaos has fought
itself. As well as being fought on the physical plain, these wars of Chaos
have been fought between time and space itself and have involved cosmic
powers of unimaginable potency. Because there is little proof or evidence of these events, they are
referred to merely as myths. One of these ‘myths’, perhaps the greatest of
its kind, is the Daemon War Saga. In total there have been 4 Daemon Wars. Most records of the wars,
especially the earlier ones, have been destroyed by the passing of time, and
those records that do still exist are, as stated earlier, scoffed at as being
merely fanciful fairy tales. We scholars, however, no better than to question
the actions of the Chaos gods and have kept the surviving records in a great
Book known as the ‘Ire De Daemonicus’, or Wrath of the Daemons. This great
tome consists of three books, one for each war. The task of collecting the surviving records and placing them
chronologically within the book has taken many centuries and has involved the
works of many scholars who have painstakingly pieced together the scant bits
of evidence that exist. This has involved the more adventurous scholars
travelling to the northern wastes to bring back the evidence and this in turn
has led to the involvement of the foul Demonologists who specialise in the
lore of Daemons and who have so far successfully translated the unholy text
of chaos as found inscribed upon the dark monoliths in the northern wastes. Because some of the texts, particularly the older ones, have been lost
or rendered unreadable by the passage of time, there are inevitable gaps in
the full story of the Daemon Wars. The following pages give an over
view of each war and for each of them there are several narrative extracts
which have been written by a host of different authors, especially in the
case of the more recent fourth war. The Second Daemon
