Deputy L.E. Cole

L. E.  Cole is a life-long resident of Monroe County. He was raised in Roe and moved to Clarendon 31 years ago. He has been married to Evelyn Cole for 25 years, they have 10 children, two that are still at home, Edmond, age 21, is employed with Lennox in Stuttgart Arkansas, and Barry, age 19, who attends college in Magnolia. Mrs. Evelyn Cole recently retired from the Clarendon Public Schools after 27 years teaching there. 

L.E. Cole has served as Vice-Mayor for 12 years, Ambulance Commissioner  for 14 years, Airport Commissioner for 19 years, Street Commissioner for 12 years and Police Commissioner for 2 years. 

Mr. Cole states, " I have always supported the improvement of the City of Clarendon and Monroe County, and have worked hard for the betterment of it's people. I want to see industry located here and the creation of new jobs. We must offer help and support to our youth to secure a clean, healthy and safe environment for them. I am available at any hour to anyone in our community from the young to the elderly. I think that Monroe County is a wonderful place to live and I want to continue to serve it's people, and work for the betterment  of the entire community."

L.E. Cole also serves on the Monroe County Extension Board, Private Industry Council which serves (6) counties, Central Arkansas Area on Aging Advisory Council, and is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Mid-Delta Rural Health Services, Chairman of the Board of Head Start with Mid-Delta Services. In Public School related activities, Mr. Cole serves on the District Parent Advisory Council, which works with State and Federal programs including Drug Free Schools and Communities, Chapter I and Chapter II and Compensatory Education. He is also on the Vocational Education Advisory Board. He also serves (6) counties on the Planning and Development District and local workforce investment board. 

Mr. Cole and his family are members of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Roe, where he is a Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. 

L.E. Cole has been active in summer recreational activities for young people and has been instrumental in obtaining grant money for baseball equipment. 

Mr. Cole has been employed for twenty years by the Mid-Delta Community Services, which serve three counties, a community program coordinator. L.E. has also been employed with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department for twenty-seven years, and has been constable of Cache Township for fourteen years. 

Mr. Cole now serves as Monroe County Jail Administrator and Deputy Sheriff. He states, "I enjoy working with Sheriff Billy Joe Morris. I have found myself working very hard in pulling the Monroe County Detention Center up to standards. I am pleased to know that all the hard work I have put into pulling the Detention Center up to standards has paid off. We were recently inspected by the State and rated the number one Detention Center in the State of Arkansas. "

He also stated, " We have a wonderful and professional staff working with us. We also have a new female Deputy that does a super job. Lisa Julian does so many things that helps make our job easier."
